Hi I'm Simon Kaminishi

I was born in Tokyo,and I'm a university student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Tokyo and grew up in Kanagawa. Before becoming a missionary, I was a university student and majored in electricity and computer programming. There are four people in my family --father, mother, younger sister and me. Each of us is so busy but I'm so thankful for being able to spend time with so precious my family. I love music. When I was a elementary-school student, I become having interest in a piano. Then, I began to play the cello. Though I'm not good at, I love playing the piano and cello. Of course, I like classical music, but I also listen to pops or something. Recently, I joined a university's orchestra, and played some classical works. I'm so thankful for being able to MAKE music with my orchestra members.

Why I am a Mormon

Since my Parents converted before my born, I've been a member of the church since I was born. Though in my childhood I went to church as my parents taught, when I was a junior high or high school student, I wanted to know if this church, the Church of Jesus-Christ of latter-day saints, is true. I prayed and asked to find out the answer from the heaven. Then, the answer was received when I was listening to a classical music about Jesus Christ. I really know these thing. I became to be unable to deny that God does exist, and He does try to lead me right now. And by reading the Book of Mormon, I tried to know if this book is true. However, I couldn't find anything to deny. I know this book is true. Because I could know be myself, I still live as a member of the church, and decided to serve as a missionary.

How I live my faith

Now I'm spending special time as a missionary. But before my mission, I tried to live the Gospel. For example, going to church every Sunday, everyday reading the scriptures and praying, keep the commandments and showing love to my family and friends. I have a GREAT experience to think about and learn church much more. It was receiving the calling to be a leader of EFY, which is a big program for youth. Almost all people working with me have much senior to me, and have much great experiences. Because I had really so much things to do, I had little time to study or practice for my orchestra. But,I understood that I need to live the Gospel, just not to believe. I found out that I couldn't receive the blessing of attending church by just storing knowledge. After that, I'm trying to apply what I learned in church. I can feel great joy at that time. So, I could decide to work as a missionary because I want to many people feel this joy which we can receive when we living our faith. When I tell people this church's thought,I can understand more about the Gospel. I know that not only just learning but living enable to me to get much blessing. Especially, I know the Book of Mormon tells us this thought.
