Hi I'm Jason S. Austin

I am married and have four children. My wife home schools our children. We enjoy doing outdoor activities together.

About Me

I enjoy work on home projects like building an animal enclosure and landscaping. I also like spending time on crafting projects like restoring furniture and crafting a personalized knife. I usually spend time every day reading novels (sci-fi and fantasy mostly). There is nothing at all that I'd rather do than spend time with my family. I am married (14 years) and have four children. We like playing soccer, board games, hiking, watching movies and lots more. We try to have a large variety of food and try out new dishes regularly. I particularly enjoy many Asian dishes (bulgogi, curry, sushi, rice, stir fry, etc.) I am a very quiet and laid back person. I smile rather than say "Hi". I am also somewhat shy and reserved around people I don't know very well. I always try to be very articulate in my speech and precise in what I say. Time alone is also very welcome.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. It has always been part of my life. I've certainly made many bad choices in my life and questioned why I believe and if what I've been taught is true. When I left home and went into the Army I began to realize just what I was missing when I chose to not attend church and be around members of my faith. While I was inactive in church I met my wife and was able to teach her about my religion and she was baptized about a year and a half after we were married. Being an example to her and now our children has helped me to learn and grow in faith and understanding.

How I live my faith

Every moment of every day, every decision and manner of lifestyle is influenced by my faith in the Lord and my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For the last 2 1/2 years (and 3 years another time before) my wife and I have helped teach primary children ages 3-7 the basics of our faith. This has been the most enjoyable calling I had at church. In times past I've also been the cub scout den leader, cub scout committee chairman, and ward executive secretary. I've recently been called to serve in the Elder's Quorum presidency as second councilor. I have always been willing to serve in any calling the Lord and church leadership choose to extend to me. Raising my children with the faith, understanding and dedication I have is the most important aspect of my life. This is our life.
