Hi I'm Melanie

I grew up in Utah, I taught piano for years, I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and grandmother. I love music and have had a music studio for the last 20 + years. I have raised 4 children and now love spending time with them, my husband and my grandchildren. I have worked in many different kinds of jobs, from teachers aide, substitute teacher, assistant office manager, store clerk, car hop at a hamburger joint, to teaching music for the last 20 + years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because ,1st and foremost, the Lord loves me, and I love Him. The gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life. It has helped me be a better wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, Neighbor and friend. As I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, I learn to be a better person and to treat other people better. I am serving a Mission with my husband, half-way around the world from my beloved family, simply because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true and has brought such Joy to my life and I want to share that message with others. I am serving also because I know that I can never say Thank You enough to my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ, for all that they have done for me. I know that I am nothing without them, and with them, I can be everything.

How I live my faith

I have been a volunteer in our local Elementary school working with children that struggle in reading. I have volunteered on a PAC (Public Advisory Committee) committee, working with local government officials and Dept of Transportation officials. I have been a member of the PTA for all the years my kids were in school and helped in their classrooms. In the church I have worked with the young children (ages 18 months to 12 years old), I have worked with the youth (ages 12 to 18), worked with the YSA (Young Single Adults, ages 18-31), worked with the adults, worked in scouting, played the organ and piano, led the music in church and led the choir. Currently I am serving a volunteer mission with my husband in the Micronesian Islands. What ever the Lord has asked me to do, through my church leaders, I have done and learned so much with each assignment.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required or paid to serve missions, we go at our own expense. We go because we love the Lord and we know He loves us and all His children. It is a way to share that Love we have for Him and all His children with People around the world. My husband and I are serving for that reason. It is a small way to show our gratitude to Him for our lives. Show more Show less
