Hi I'm Luke

I was born in California, grew up in Idaho, and LOVE my family. I'm currently serving a mission in Sendai, Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm originally from California, but I moved to Idaho when I was young. I love just about everything in Idaho (yes, especially potatoes), but I still feel like a surfer boy at heart. My family is the most important thing to me, and I love spending time with them more than anything else. I just graduated high school. My two favorite sports are soccer and volleyball. I enjoy travelling and eating lots of delicious food. I am currently serving a mission in Sendai, Japan, which is the best place on Earth! After my mission, I plan on studying medicine in hopes of becoming a family doctor or pediatrician.

Why I am a Mormon

Because my parents were both Mormon, I grew up learning about and believing in the teachings of Christ and in His Gospel. However, after I started my LDS mission, I had to self-analyze and figure out if I really did have faith. How could I expect to teach something to others which I wasn't fully converted to myself? Through my mission experiences, I gained such a clear knowledge about the Nature of God and Jesus Christ. I have been forced to rely more fully upon the help of Christ. I've made plenty of mistakes in my life, but I have peace knowing that the Savior has already made up for my shortcomings and will help me to overcome them -- every time. I'm a Mormon because I need the help of Christ every day, and I rejoice in knowing that if I have faith, I can receive it.

How I live my faith

Something that I thoroughly enjoyed back home was family history. At first, I though that that kind of thing was just for old people, you know, retired grandmas with nothing else to do with their time. However, as I got going and started finding the names of my ancestors, I was filled with an intense love for my family and a desire to do more. I found hundreds of names of people in my family tree, and it brought me so much joy to know that I could help those in my family who had gone before me. Because I love this Church and love my Savior, I made the decision to serve an LDS mission. I know how much happiness and peace my knowledge of Jesus Christ has brought me in my life, and I want other people to have that same joy!
