Hi I'm Samuel Smith

I'm from Thatcher Idaho, I love snowmobiling, and I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I am serving in the California Ventura Mission, 2012-2014. It is awesome! My #1 hobby is backcountry snowmachining, but I can put it off for 2 years while I am serving. I am the 2nd of 12 kids. I have a great family and some amazing friends. I grew up in a little town called Thatcher Idaho. So of course I hunt, fish, hike for antlers, ride atv's and of course, tear up the deep powder. Well, if you want to know more you will have to meet me...

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was raised with the teachings of the gospel in my life, and through prayer and study, I have gained a testimony of my own. It didn't come all at once, but it came, and it grows everyday. I know without a doubt that this is the only church on this earth that has the complete gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and because of the Atonement, I can be freed from sin, and return to live with my Heavenly Father and my own family forever. I know and love the gospel, and without it, I would be lost and unhappy. Join the church and be happier than you ever have been!!!

How I live my faith

I am on a mission, so I get to live my faith and serve others every day! The reason I am on a mission is because I know that God loves every one of his children. I know that He wants every one of them to be happy. I have felt the power of the Atonement in my life, and I want to help others feel the true and lasting happiness only comes by living the gospel. I want everyone to receive the blessings and feel the peace this gospel brings.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Samuel Smith
A reason the Church is growing is because it is true. Truths are eternal, unchanging principles. In a world where the only constant is change, people need stability. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and so obviously he is a God of truth. The basics truths of the gospel were taught by Christ, and the Holy Ghost testifies to us of truths. And so when people learn and hear of this gospel, which is the same gospel that Jesus Christ taught, they recognize the truth by the Holy Ghost and they want to be a part of it. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Samuel Smith
We believe that Christ atoned for our sins and gave His life for us. He took upon himself all our weaknesses and faults, and truly overcame the world. We believe that everyone who is born on this earth accepted Christ as their Savior in the Pre-existence. Because of this, all of us will be overcome physical death and eventually be resurrected. This is a gift freely given to us. So we are in that sense saved by Grace alone, and not by our works. But we believe that God has more in store for us than that. He wants His children to enjoy all the blessings that he has to offer us, and so He judges us and determines our exaltation based on our works, and the desires of our hearts. When we utilize the Atonement of Christ, and use it to change our lives and our very character, we can overcome Spiritual death. But it is only through Christ and his Grace that we can completely repent. Show more Show less
