Hi I'm Shelby

I love to sew, I'm a college student, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Shelby, I am a College Freshman, and I was just baptized June 23, 2012, by my awesome boyfriend! Other than church, sewing is my biggest passion (and my major!), and I also play in my college's orchestra! I love studying the scriptures, church history and making friends in my University Branch!

Why I am a Mormon

I've had Mormon friends my entire life, but until recently, I never even knew what that meant! Early in 2012, I found myself asking, which church IS right? I had been visiting various churches with my mom and my friends, but none felt quite right. Eventually, my boyfriend started bringing me to church, and I knew it was right! I love everything about the church and I learn new things everyday that amaze me and build my testimony!

How I live my faith

I am going to a non-church affiliated university, living in the dorms on campus, which can be a bit difficult sometimes! Instead of seeing this as something to bring me down, I like to see it as a faith builder! I tell everyone I get the chance all about my faith, what it means and why I love it. Being a member of this church makes resisting influence so much easier, because I was good at resisting them before being introduced to the church, but now I have a real, solid reason for why I know I shouldn't and I can be Steadfast and Immovable! :) I am hoping to go on a full time mission this coming summer! I am also on the Institute Council Board in my University branch, helping plan events for students to get them involved and invite friends

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Generally, Missionaries fund their own missions, raising money throughout their lives in preparation. In some cases, however, local congregations may have funds raised that can be used for missionaries, if the missionary is not able to pay for the whole thing themselves. Show more Show less
