Hi I'm Mckenna

I'm a anthropology student. I love to travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying anthropology. I love learning about different cultures, places and customs, traveling, and seeing what I can learn from other people's traditions. I've studied abroad in Paris, done a field study in the Channel Islands, and I went on a medical mission to Guatemala a few years ago with my family. I love languages, history, and Europe. I just got back from serving a full-time mission in the Czech Republic for a year and half. It was the best decision I have ever made. It was such an amazing experience to talk with people every day about the things that matter most to me, and to see others find that same happiness and joy of knowing who they are and who God is.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my religion makes me happy. That's the simplest way to say it. Knowing who I am, why I'm here and the purpose of my life is something that is priceless. My beliefs give me a foundation for the rest of my life. I also love the emphasis on family--the family is central to everything we do in the church. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that God has a plan for my life! Knowing that helps me to be optimistic about the future and enjoy life. I don't have to worry about what-ifs because I know that God will always be there to carry me when times get hard.

How I live my faith

My faith is a central part of everything I do. It's what brings me the most happiness. Going to church helps to remind me what really matters in life and provides a network of support and friendship to bolster me up when times are hard. Especially as a college student away from home, being part of this community helps me to stay grounded. It's like a second family. No matter where I go in the world I know that there will always be people who love and care about me and are willing to help. My favorite part of my faith however, is that it is a constant presence in my life-- it's a lifestyle, not just a church. It is my personal relationship with God and with Jesus Christ that is the most precious to me. No matter what is going on in my life, I know that I can always find answers and guidance to my questions through prayer and scripture study-and I have! It is through Jesus Christ that I find peace and joy and hope for the future. It is the kind of happiness that is hard to describe--my heart doesn't quite have room to hold it all. It's a happiness that is worth everything to find and to keep.
