Hi I'm Shanna

I love music, swimming, water polo, dancing, and going out with friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and my major is Elementary Education. I am the oldest of four, so that puts a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. But I can handle it. Some of my hobbies include arts and crafts, reading romantic thrillers, watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, House, or any crime related show, and serving others. The only places I've been to outside of the states are Mexico and Estonia. I am interested in traveling to more famous places around the world like France, Italy, China, Japan, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, London, and the Caribbean Islands. I love to listen to Rock, Hard Rock, Hip Hop, Pop Country, and Dance music. I plan on getting married, having around four kids, and becoming an Elementary school teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I know that this church is Christ's church. Sure, I was born into the church, but everyone has to go through their own conversion into a church. I have always felt the love of my Savior, especially when I read the Book of Mormon. I know that this book is true and is from God. I know that we have a living prophet and apostles on the earth today. The Bible states that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever...so why would God abandon his children today? I know that I am a child of God, and that He loves and knows me better than I know myself. I know that He listens to my prayers and answers them in His time. I know that Jesus Christ suffered and died for my sins, and that He loves me and is always there for me. I know that this is the only church that has the true Priesthood, or power of God. I know the Plan of Salvation is true. I know where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going after this life. I know that families can be together forever and can be sealed together in a temple of God. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God and restored Christ church on the earth and we still have it today. This is why I am happy, and a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to be as Christ-like as possible. The well known acronym, WWJD, has been a very huge influence in my life. As I mentioned earlier, I love to serve others. I have always been big about helping out my family, friends, or even complete strangers. I feel good when I am able to help out a peer if they need to borrow a pencil, or if my mom needed me to help her with the laundry, or if I saw an elderly lady struggling to reach her keys that she'd dropped on the floor I'd get them for her. Christ always put others first before himself, and that's what I was raised to do. But service isn't the only way I live my faith. I also strive to be a good example and make good decisions. For example, I believe very strongly that my body is a temple. So I choose to dress modestly, don't do drugs, don't drink alcohol, and don't have any tattoos or any other piercings on my body besides my ears. I also choose to not watch any rated R movies and sometimes I'll even turn off a PG-13 movie if it makes me uncomfortable, because images that we see stick to our minds forever, so why put unwanted images in my head? If anything would offend Christ, I get away from it.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Shanna
A temple is a House of the Lord where sacred covenants and ordinances are performed within. Because this is such a sacred place to be, members of the church need to be worthy to enter into a temple. Just like many, if not all homes, there are rules to be kept. For example, if someone came to your home and had very muddy feet, you wouldn't want them to get your house all dirty would you? You would want them to be clean before entering your home. The same thing applies to the house of the Lord. He has permitted only those who are clean and pure to enter His home. And you can become clean and someday enter into a temple of the Lord! All you need to do is take the missionary lessons, and become baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Show more Show less
