Hi I'm Tyler

I'm from Star Valley, Wyoming. I love sports, the outdoors and being with family and friends. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tyler, but I'm probably more well known as Skinny.I would love to tell you all about me, but I would run out of room. So here are a few things about me: I'm from Star Valley, Wyoming, which is probably the best place in the world!! And due to that I love the outdoors! Whether it's camping, fishing, dirt-biking, swimming, etc., anything that deals with outdoors I'm a big fan of. I'm the 2nd of 4 kids (2 brothers and a sister), and I love my family to death. I absolutely love sports!! Whether it's watching or playing them, sports a a big part of my life. I have been gifted to excel in sports most of my life, but I would say my two specialties are basketball and track. Before going on a mission, I went to the University of Wyoming and was on the university track team there. I was pretty successful and learned a lot that has helped me out in life. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to continue with the sport when I return home. I'm a huge music fan as well. I was always listening to music no matter what I was doing, everywhere I went. I have been able to play the guitar, violin, french horn, drums, and trumpet (and currently working on the piano). I have gotten a bit rusty on some of them, so I look forward to picking them back up. Aside from those I'm your typical guy who loves movies, video games, hanging out with family and friends, and overall having a good time:) I currently am serving in the Canada Halifax Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was baptized at the age of 8. But like everyone else, there came a point where I had to find out if it was true. As a teenager, I had several life changing experiences that helped me know that God was there, but even then I still had to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was true, and if the Gospel was true too. After many experiences, lots of study and prayer, I am happy and proud to say that they are true. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is something that takes time to fully understand, but eventually it becomes so simple to know. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that he suffered and fulfilled the Atonement for not just me, but for everyone. I know that Heavenly Father not only loves me, but is there. We can be together with our families forever, return to live with Him someday, and have a prophet on the earth...who wouldn't want to know these things. The Gospel is for individuals and families. That missing void in our lives is filled as we come to know the truth of it for ourselves. The Gospel and church has changed and saved my life. I don't want to imagine my life without it. I'm a very happy, positive, patient person who has found peace because of the Gospel. I'm so happy and proud to say: I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently am serving a 2 year mission for the church. Normally when a young man turns 18-19, they serve a mission. I'm 23, and it took me awhile to decide to go. But I put everything on hold because I know I needed to serve. The blessings and experiences that have come from my mission so far are priceless. Serving a mission is the best decision I have ever made. Prior to my mission I had numerous callings in the church, from quorum presidencies to home-teacher, ward temple trip coordinator to class instructor. Each of these callings has helped me gain a greater love and understanding to serve others. I'm always doing my best to live a Christ-like life, and a big part of that is doing the basics of the Gospel...reading the scriptures, praying and going to church. There is much more to living the Gospel, but these 3 things is where it all starts. I'm always trying to learn on how to bring my life in accordance to what my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want. Overall, I just do my best to be a good example. In the mission field, in sports, or even in the family and friend setting, I try to be the best I can be:)
