Hi I'm Ryan Lofthouse

I am from Utah. I am currently serving a full-time mission for the church in the California Fresno Mission.

About Me

I love music! I've played trombone for eight years and piano for twelve. I also like to sing and I've written a few songs for piano and voice. I've finished one year of college. I like reading, using facebook, ultimate frisbee, and being with friends. I am currently serving a full-time mission (two years of serving people and teaching the gospel) in the California Fresno area.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in the church. My family always prayed and read the Book of Mormon together. But simply being raised in this religion wouldn't have kept me here. When I was young (maybe around eight) I read the Book of Mormon on my own. When I finished, I knelt down and asked God if the Book of Mormon was true. The thought came to my mind, "You already know" and I was filled with a peaceful feeling that confirmed that thought. Throughout my life I have felt God testify to me through His spirit of different truths. I have seen my prayers answered many, many times. I know that when I am striving to live the principles of the gospel God blesses my life and I become a better person each day.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a missionary for my church. I study the scriptures every day and I try to share the gospel with all those around me. I have dedicated the next two years to the Lord, to serve Him every minute of every day.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Ryan Lofthouse
We all try to do our very best to make good choices and follow God. But each and every one of us fall short. We make mistakes, we sin, we give in to weaknesses or as Paul put it, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). We could never make it to Heaven on our own. Thankfully, we have the atonement of Jesus Christ that makes up for all of our shortcomings. A Book of Mormon prophet wrote, "For we know that it is by grace we are saved after all we can do" (2 Nephi 25:23). Without the grace of God we could never return to live with Him. Show more Show less
