Hi I'm Kimmy Haskins

I'm an auntie of two. I'm a full-time missionary in England. My dream is to become a forensic Anthropologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a student of anything that fascinates me, i.e.; archaeology, astronomy, literature, Disneyland, etc... I love movies, books, and any other form of storytelling. I graduated with a BA in Archaeology from Brigham Young University and am currently serving as a full-time missionary in Northwestern England for 18 months! My family, friends, and faith are what I treasure most.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I chose to be. My parents may have raised me in this church but I had to make my own decision about whether I wanted to be a part of it. We are promised in Moroni 10:3-5 that if we read and pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon that we'll be given a confirming witness through the Holy Ghost. So that's what I did. I prayerfully read the Book of Mormon for months before I got my answer. The answer hit me while I was in the break room at work, of all places. I was reading the Book of Mormon on my phone when an overwhelming feeling of peace and happiness came over me and I knew the things I was reading had actually happened. I knew, without a doubt, that my Heavenly Father existed and loved me. I also knew that Joseph Smith was His prophet and that Jesus Christ's true church had been restored once more upon the earth. And I was already a part of it! This Gospel encourages a positive and healthy lifestyle that leads to countless blessings. And, of course, the promise of being with our families for eternity. I know that if I live the Gospel and keep His commandments my life will be enriched and blessed in ways that are unparalleled in this day and age.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping God's commandments, my covenants I've made with Him, and by always striving to do what's right. I try to set a good example at work and school by upholding my standards and always looking on the bright side. I have a strong relationship with my parents and siblings, who set good examples for me in every aspect of my life. I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Manchester, England. I'm going to spend 18 months here in service of my Heavenly Father by helping others come unto Christ and strenghten their relationship with God. I'm putting my life on pause while I do this so I can focus all my time and attention on my brothers and sisters in England. I'm excited to be here, I know this is what Heavenly Father wants for me!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Kimmy Haskins
No member of our church is forced to serve a mission. But we do believe it is a commandment for all worthy young men to serve as a missionary for the Lord for 2 years. It isn't a commandment for women to serve, but it is encouraged. I decided to serve a mission because I love my Heavenly Father and the best way to express that love is by serving His children.
