Hi I'm James William Bishop

I'm an osteopathic medical student. I'm a father of 3 children. I'm a husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a medical student who hopes to someday become a surgeon. I have 3 young children that take up most of my time away from school. I have been married for almost 10 years and love having a family. I am also currently working on writing a fantasy novel and love to read.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family that was members of the LDS church but was very agnostic myself. I was very scientifically minded and rejected many of the beliefs about God. In college I came to understand the value of my Savior but did not feel any strong ties to this particular church. I have looked at multiple religions, christian and others, before coming back to the LDS church. One thing that was particulary important to me was how easy it was to connect my scientific background with the teachings. There are multiple "experiments" that I have found within the gospel; challenges issued by Christ and different prophets. Through these I have been able to learn for myself of the truth and not rely on the words of others to know what is try. A few of these include praying about the Book of Mormon as challenged by Moroni and paying tithing. Apparent contradictions as pointed out by other religions and atheists between science and religion are all answered in the scriptures and merely take study to resolve. I am active in my church today because I believe that of all churches this one is the full truth. I feel it is one that I can test for myself and not have to blindly follow anyone else. I am able to believe the truth of God and Jesus Christ and still study and learn the truths contained within science. This is the true church and I am very grateful to my Lord and Savior that I have the truth in my life.

How I live my faith

I am a teacher at church and teach on the fourth Sunday of every week. I also support my wife as she teaches the teenage youth in our church each week. Primary is classes for children and it's great to have our children spend each week with friends of their own age learning about Jesus Christ. Every other month we help clean the church with other families in the ward. This is a wonderful time to serve and teach our children to serve.
