Hi I'm David

I've lived on four continents. I have a wonderful family. I'm an Mormon.

About Me

Currently, I work as a US Foreign Service Officer in Guadalajara, Mexico. On the weekends I like to mountain bike, rock climb, and camp with my wife and three children. Before working for the State Department we lived in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan where I conducted PhD dissertation research with Uzbeks and Uyghurs living there. My wife and I met while we were studying Arabic in Jerusalem. After our marriage, I went to law school in Idaho and spent a summer studying Islamic law in Cairo, Egypt. We like to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a Mormon in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mostly I grew up in Utah, but I lived with my family for three years in Germany where my father served in the US Army. When I was about twelve I gained my own testimony of Jesus Christ and the restoration of his church through modern-day prophets. As I served a mission in Uruguay, my testimony increased. As a student at BYU I also shared my testimony through visual arts as a stage technician in the Western United States, Southern Spain, and North Africa. Therefore, I'm a Mormon because I know it's true. Please let me know if you have any questions about my faith.

How I live my faith

Everyday I pray and try to study the scriptures. That helps me feel good inside and it gives me direction and hope. We also pray as a family and conduct scripture study through a Facebook group.
