Hi I'm Janice Wright

I'm a student. I'm a writer. I'm a dreamer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I studied French and Creative Writing in college, which was an incredible adventure. I studied in Paris twice, and loved Seattle as a student as well. I have always loved to read and write, and I look forward to pursuing my goal of publishing my work and teaching at a college level. For fun, I love to take long walks, listen to music, or bake with my mom. I'll be serving a mission in Los Angeles, and I hope to see you there!

Why I am a Mormon

People are often surprised to hear I am a Mormon, and they usually say "Wow, but..you're so smart and cool, I didn't think Mormons were like that", but, being a member of this church is what makes me who I am. When I was 16, I attended a week long camp for youth. Our camp director gave us the challenge: "Think about your life right now. Find in your heart, three questions. Three things you want to know. This week, as you pray and study the scriptures, you will find your answers. I promise, if you look, you will find answers." My number one question was this: "Will Heavenly Father REALLY forgive me of my sins? Is it possible to be totally clean again". I was scared to know the answer, but I prayed fervently that week to know if I could ever be worthy to be His again. One afternoon, while reading my scriptutres in Moroni, I found my answer. Just a simple verse, but it hit me--YES, I can be forgiven. And more than just 'forgiven', I could be welcomed back into His arms with love. Through this experience I came to realize that I am truly a daughter of God, and that HE LOVES ME. He loves me for who I am, because He created me. He is my Father, He knows my strengths and weaknesses, He knows what I love and what gets on my nerves. And He loves me, just the way I am. And He wants to do everything He can to help me live the happiest life possible, and one day make it back to live with Him again. This was news to me. Of course, people have told me things like that, I've been taught all my life that I am a child of God. But this time, it was life changing. I feel as though my life has been flooded with light. I am a Mormon because it is 'all those rules' that set me free, that help me to be happy. I am a Mormon because the light of the gospel of Christ illuminates my path, and though the path is not always easy, I KNOW that He is ALWAYS there for me, reaching out his hand, if only I'll take it. This is my testimony. :)

How I live my faith

I love to be around people who think the same way I do, so I spend a lot of my time in clubs and classes with those of the same beliefs. One way to do this, is through classes called Institute. I attend these classes once or twice a week based on my school schedule. Right now, I am studying the Book of Mormon and being Productive. I've been a member my whole life, but continually studying the Gospel helps me to see Heavenly Father's hand guiding my life; a constant reminder that He knows me and loves me.
