Hi I'm Greg

I grew up in California. I'm a surgeon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love learning through reading, watching, and experiencing. I'm interested in astronomy, sailing, and historical figures and events. I enjoy road and mountain biking, swimming, mountaineering, and canyoneering. I love the feeling of running further than I used to think I could. I graduated from Brigham Young University and University of Utah School of Medicine. I served the people of Colombia, South America, for two years. Even more important to me, I am part of a family. My wife and I are raising three girls and one boy. I enjoy reading to the younger ones, sharing stories of my childhood with the older ones, and being involved in their activities. My wife and I enjoy sneaking off to a new-release movie late at night, watching old Audrey Hepburn classics, eating out, and watching old family videos. Our favorite activity is traveling to places we have never been, meeting new people, and experiencing their culture.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ restored His Gospel. I have a spiritual knowledge that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon. This is another witness of Jesus Christ. It teaches His gospel clearly, and helps me learn about the Savior and grow closer to Him. I know that Jesus Christ restored His church--the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The priesthood authority has been restored. This validates gospel ordinances and allows me to receive guidance regularly by the Holy Ghost. The teachings of the Gospel and the guidance of the Holy Ghost give me understanding of the purpose of life, patience during trials, inspiration for better thoughts, words and actions, and hope for the future.

How I live my faith

I try to do what Jesus Christ taught. I have a personal conviction that He lived and what He taught is true. His teachings are the guide for my actions. I try to set a good example for my children. I also look after the needs of three other families in our neighborhood. I visit them in their homes at least once per month and try to be available if they need any help. I also serve others in our community by leading a monthly caregiver support group and assisting the local chapter of the world's largest womens' organization. I am part of an executive council that directs care of 2,700 individuals' spiritual, temporal, and emotional needs.
