Hi I'm Kevan Johnson

I was home schooled. I was raised in the church. I love music, sports, and playing Drums. I'm serving a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Kevan Johnson and I'm 19. Well to start off, I'm a full time missionary serving in Omaha Nebraska! Whoo hoo! I like sports! I'll play any sport competitively (basketball, baseball, football, rugby, lacross, soccer, you name it!) I like the outdoors, and going on hikes. I also like a handful of video games. Starcraft 2 is amazing! It's like a complicated game of chess, and I love it! I'm really into music! I love music, and have written some lyrics for some songs I made up. I taught myself how to play the drums, and I love playing on my drum-set. It's electric, but it has it's perks! I also hope to learn how to play the cello one day. I am the seventh child out of twelve, and the 2nd out of 3 boys. so yes, I have nine sisters. I love my family very much. It's like I have the neighborhood over at my house every day! I was home schooled my whole life (besides my junior year in High School. I thought I'd try out public school for a bit). I got my High school diploma through taking the CHSPE test. I haven't gone to college yet, but plan on getting my M.D, and continuing on to be a dentist.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I grew up learning about the book of Mormon and what great book it was. I may not have converted from a different faith, which can be really tough, but I did have a conversion experience within myself. Like I said, I grew up in the church, but I never learned for myself "Why am I a Mormon?" I truly started to ask this question of myself around age 18. I asked my Father what I should do, and he told me to read the Book of Mormon, pray about it, and find out for myself. I proceeded to read the Book of Mormon. I read the book in a week, and at the end of the book the prophet Moroni says to pray and God with a sincere desire to know if the words in it are true. I asked God in solemn prayer if what I had read was true. What happened then was nothing short of a miracle for me. My mind became very clear and calm, and I had a profound answer through the spirit of God which said in my mind "You know it to be true." My heart swelled with joy at this new found glory. The Book of Mormon was true, and proved Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true church of God. I knew for myself. And having that knowledge has helped me grow closer to God. It has helped me make changes in my life that I couldn't have made before. I am eternally thankful for Gods mercy, for Joseph Smith, and the Book of Mormon. They've made me who I am today. I know this Church is true.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday at 11 in the morning. It is a good reminder for us to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ more fully. I enjoy the good spirit that I feel there. I'm constantly learning new things about Jesus Christ's teachings every time I go to gospel classes. I used to teach a gospel class every 3 weeks, and while I taught, I learned as well. I try every day to keep the commandments of God. I know I can always do better, so I never stop trying my hardest at being obedient to what the Lord has commanded. I try to be a better person everyday by doing a good turn, and helping someone in need. Giving service to others is one of the best ways to show love to others, and also to The Lord Jesus Christ. So, you could say that giving service to others is our religion. Jesus showed love and compassion for all others, even those that hated him, and smote him. I try hard to be like him...to include others, and to show love. Jesus taught us that we must love one another, and also gave his life to God the eternal Father as an example to us. That is what I strive to do as a Christian.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Kevan Johnson
Yes. I know that God still calls prophets to help direct his children and keep them on the right path. God called prophets in the 'olden times' ( like Adam, Noah, Moses, Abraham) to help guide the children of men. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God, and has been called by God to do the same as has been done in past times. God Loves us, and want's the best for us. Through Prophets, we can receive the Lords guidance in this world. I know that Thomas S. Monson is prophet. He surely communicates with God. Just listen to what he teaches. Everything he says inspires us to do good, and if it inspires us to do good it is inspired of the Lord. Show more Show less
