Hi I'm Garrick

I am from beautiful Southern Utah. I love the sport of basketball . I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the town of evil waters bad for man...Parowan Utah! I love to play sports of all kinds but usually stick with basketball. I enjoy playing guitar, spending time with my family, and just being active! I attended Snow College for one year. I have 5 other siblings; 2 older sisters, 2 older brothers, and 1 younger brother. I have loved growing up with so many siblings. It made everything so much fun, but at the same time, so crazy!

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon is not always easy. Many people mock and ridicule the things we believe. Others laugh and poke fun at the things we do or say. I am a Mormon because of the peace this gospel has brought into my life, because I know things that the opposition does not know. I know God has a plan for each and everyone of us. Through this gospel He has given us ways to know how to live our lives so that we can receive His greatest blessings and happiness in this life. I am a Mormon because I have peace knowing my purpose in life. I know where I came from, I know why I am here and I know exactly where I will be going after this life. I know God lives; I know He has a plan for all of His children to be able to be happy in this life. I know Jesus Christ is at the Head of this church and He lives today. I have messed up so many times in my life, but I know because of my Savior Jesus Christ, I can be cleansed from all of my past transgressions. I know that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith at the young age of 14 and gave him the keys to restore this church. I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and I know it is the word of God. So much power, so much peace, and so many answers are given to us by reading the Book of Mormon as well as reading from the Bible. I can truly testify that every belief in this church is true, and because I know these things for myself, is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have always enjoyed living my faith. The Mormon Church offers endless opportunities for young and old people alike. While enjoying the company of my friends and family at different activities, I was taught gospel principals, in turn, it has helped me all through out my life so that I could keep myself away from unnecessary dangers. I was given many opportunities to be able to serve many people from my community. There is nothing better than seeing the gratitude on someone’s face when you have served them. Living my faith has brought me so much happiness and joy, and really has taught me how to be a better person. The attributes I have gained from living my faith has built a foundation for me for the rest of my life. I cannot imagine growing up any other way. I honestly do not know where would be without the influence of my faith. I am now serving a two year full time LDS Mission in Florida. Being able to share this marvelous gospel to everyone I see has been the most rewarding experience of my life. My desire to help others has grown, my love for people I meet is steadily increasing, and I truly have come closer to my Heavenly Father because of this great opportunity I have been given.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Coming to know your Heavenly Father can take time. You can come to know your Heavenly Father by kneeling down to Him in sincere prayer, listening closly to his answers, and following the guidance that you receive through the Holy Ghost. As you learn to lay your life in his hands and watch as he shapes it, your faith will grow and you will build a stronger relationship with Him. Faith comes as you keep His commandments. When you exercise faith, you will begin to notice His blessings in your life more abundently. Reading scriptures that have been given to us through Him to holy prophets, will increase your knowledge of His excistance, His power, and His love. When you learn how to trust Him, He will make Himself know unto you in your life. There is nothing better in this life than having a great relationship with your Father in Heaven. What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Mainly we believe that this life is the time to prepare to meet God. Our Heavenly Father has given us agency to choose our path in this life, it is up to us on what path we will take. Everything that happens in our lives that cause feelings of joy, happiness, pain, and sorrow all happen for a reason. We are to take those feelings and grow from them. This life is to gain experience so that we can become more like our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

We live our lives just like eveyone else. We laugh, we cry, we go through trials, we make mistakes. Just like everyone else, we are looking to find happiness in this life. Knowing that our bodies our a gift from God, we do the best we can to take care of them. As a result of this knowledge, we keep ourselves sexually pure and obstain from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and other harmful substances. These things are harmful for our minds, our bodies, and can't ultimately bring us pure happiness; a happiness that only can come from God. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ consists of Christ's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and upon the cross. Jesus Christ suffered every pain and every affliction of every kind as he most humbly took upon himself the sins of the world. If it were not for this action of pure love, none of us would have the chance to one day be in the precense of our Heavenly Father again. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the center to everything we do. We know that no unclean thing can enter into the kingdom of God, so without Him we would all be stuck in our graves after death. Jesus Christ has given us life. No other human being could have ever made such a sacrifice, and no other human being would. We will never be able to fully comprehend the Atonement of Jesus Christ, but as we continue to learn more and more about his love he has for us we will want to be more like Him. Jesus Christ loves all his people and wants them all to be with our Heavenly Father agian. It is because of Him that any of us have a purpose in life. I am truly indebted to Him. He is my Savior and my Reedemer, and through is grace and mercy I can one day be able to live with God again. Show more Show less
