Hi I'm Joey King

"I grew up in Utah. I love skiing, basketball, debating, and computer programming. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love skiing, playing basketball, and sailing. While in high school I competed in debate and traveled all over the country competing with other high school students. I met a lot of people that were from all around the country and the world. After high school I went to a semester at college where I studied computer science. I find programming fascinating and love to make things on the computer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church my parents are both members of this church, and have raised me in this church. Although I was born in this church I did not know if it was what god wanted for me, or even that the teachings of this church were truly what god wanted me and others to learn. Over time questions came to my mind questioning the church, I brought those questions to the lord through prayer and scripture. Through faith that my prayers would be answered and in time my prayers where answered, and I gained a witness that this is god's church again on the earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by encouraging people to come unto Christ. I do this by inviting people to make changes in their lives that will help bring them closer to Christ. Examples of how I have done this: I encourage friends to make changes in their lives to help them live the commandments. I also live my faith by reading the scriptures with my family and praying with them. This has not only brought all of us closer to God, and closer together as a family. I also read and pray on my own to work on my personal relationship with God, and to find out what he wants me to do.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Joey King
A Ward or Branch would be the equivalent of a congregation of a congregation of another faith, and its members are those who are baptized and confirmed members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. All are welcome to join us in our worship or join us in different activity's that the members of those wards or Branches put on. The difference between a ward and a branch is general the number of members that live within the geographical boundary's set for that ward or branch. A stake is a group of congregations in a geographical area consisting of wards and branches, much like a catholic deice. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Joey King
No. That's the simple answer, but we really are like everyone else. We help others when we see them in need and we can help them. We see everyone as our brother or sister and so we instinctively want to help them. We do help other mormons out as well because we also see them as our brothers and sisters. We try to do we can to help our neighbors, friends, families, and acquantances whether they are members of our church or not. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Joey King
Probably one of my favorite questions! One of my favorite scriptures from the bible is Hebrews 11: 1, 5. To me those verses tell me that faith is believing in something that we know is true or that we hope is true and then acting on it. All of us do this all of the time. From school students who ride the bus who get up early in the morning and go out and wait for the bus that is not yet there yet they believe and trust will be there. To the person driving a car who goes to a gas station believing that he/she will be able to buy gas. Often times these people seeing signs indicating their believes to be true. For those riding the bus purhaps seeing other kids out waiting for the bus is a sign yet the bus is not there. Similarly those filling up their tank may notice price signs or other cars at pumps and take those as indications. We can see the same thing with things of God. Purhaps we saw something miraclous and uterly unexplainable happen in the life of another. Purhaps we see more suttle signs such as the beauty in the world around us. Acting on these signs might bring us to pray and communicate with our father in heaven and thus act on those signs that he exists. It may bring to us a desire to know more about him which we can do by reading the scriptures (The Bible, Book of Mormon, etc.). We can learn from the faith and actions of others by Attending church meetings, and gathering with people who believe in God. Show more Show less
