Hi I'm Kendra

I'm a traveler, a photographer, a teacher, and I'm proud to say that I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Southern Virginia University graduate who has a desire to travel the world and help people in any way I can. I recently spent a year teaching English in Taiwan to the most adorable children. I enjoy photography, cooking, reading, being outside, learning, and teaching/playing with children. My favourite thing to do right now is to preach the gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but that is not the only reason why I am a Mormon. I grew up in the church and throughout the years I have come to know more and more of the truthfulness of this restored gospel. I have realized that Heavenly Father has a plan for everyone and He will lead us to where we need to be, and if times get tough I know I am not alone. I know that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me and will help me in any way I need help. When I pray I will receive answers to my prayers, even though it may not be as soon as I want the answers. I have read the Book of Mormon and come to know of its truthfulness. The Holy Ghost has testified of its truthfulness to me. I am a Mormon because I know that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. I strive to live the values set forth by my church so that I can be a better person and continue to learn and grow. An emphasis in my church is service. Serving others is a great way to grow closer to Christ and I have found that I find much enjoyment as I put forth an effort to help another.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Everyone has a purpose in life. We are not sent to earth to just live and die. We are sent to earth to learn, grow and choose to follow Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father has a plan for us, a great plan of happiness that will lead us to live with Him again. Satan also has a plan, he desires for everyone to be miserable just like he is. God, our Heavenly Father, gave us the agency to choose to either follow Him, or Satan. As we choose to follow God's plan we can find great joy and purpose in life. Purpose to follow Jesus Christ and live according to His doctrines so that we can live eternally with Him and Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Firstly, the name Mormon for our church is simply a nickname that we are widely known and referred as. The name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Of course we are Christians. The name of church testifies that we do believe in Jesus Christ. I've never quite understood why it is often confused that we do not believe in Christ. Our gospel is all about Jesus Christ and how we follow Him. We believe in the Bible and know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. He is our Savior and by learning about him and following Him we can come to know how much he loves us and what we need to do to continue following Him and living by His teachings. Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes we believe in the Bible! I love the Bible! I have read the majority of it once and am now halfway through, reading every page. Each day I read from it's pages I learn something new. I know that it is the word of God that he gave to his prophets of old. It is still applicable to us today. Show more Show less
