Hi I'm Riley

I grew up in Utah. I love to play drums, spend time with friends, and watch movies. Oh and you'll never guess... I'M A MORMON!

About Me

I like to play drums and throughout high school I was part of the drumline. I also like to get closer to my friends by spending time with them. I love to listen to music. Couldn't tell y'all a favorite type because I listen to any and all types. I love to be outside and enjoy the joy of living, but most of all I love to spend time with my family and my dogs.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Mormon church my whole life. Having lived in Utah it happens every so often. However I have learned you can be active in a church without being active. In fact I wasn't even all that active at all. God has a funny way of taking a bad situation and turning it into something that will bring you back to Him. That's exactly what happened to me. I made some poor choices and it led me to a point that I had to make a decision on where I wanted to be. Because of my mistakes I have learned the hard way on where I want to be and how I need to act and treat others. I know that Christ set the perfect example, and the one church that teaches to actually live this example is where I belong.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the example that Jesus Christ set for me. He was a great teacher and friend to all those around him. I learn of this example by attending church, reading my scriptures, and praying to my Heavenly Father. I also try to help those around me come closer to him by sharing the things that I've learned and offering my service to others.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Riley
We don't have paid clergy because we believe that we should have the desire to serve without reward. We don't share a message from our Heavenly Father for money. Did Jesus or the Twelve apostles go around saying,"Hey, I've got a message for you concerning how you can return to live with your Father in Heaven, But it'll cost ya." Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Riley
It is true. Not only do we have a written account in the Book of Mormon but we also have a Heavenly Father who will answer that question as you earnistly and honestly seek this answer and ask him through prayer. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Riley
The temple is a very sacred place. It is literally the house of the lord. We read in the scriptures that no unclean thing can enter the house of the Lord, so you should be worthy to enter the temple right? We try to keep ourselves as spiritually clean as we can so that we can have the privilege to enter the temple. In the temple we do a lot of work for the dead. Notice i said for and not of. There are actually no dead bodies in the temple. We stand in place for those who have passed. It is a way to provide those who have died without the opportunity to be baptized or sealed with their family that sacred and amazing gift. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Riley
Well in acts ch 1 the apostles (11 at that time) got together and prayed on who should fill the 12th seat in of the apostles. They had it revealed to them that it should be Matthias. Later Paul surnamed saul was chosen to be an apostle to fill another vaccency. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He set's up patterns and always follows them to help bring order to the world. That pattern continues today with 12 apostles! Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Riley
First: You gotta ask yourself what is a prophet and what is his job. Second: You gotta pray and study so you'll know what to look for, and Third: Look for that in people who claim to be such. I have done that. I have found that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet on the earth today. Also The Quorum of the Twelve apostles in the church. I did the three things above, and because of that I know they are. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Riley
It's like being a devoted servent of Jesus Christ. You work the works that Christ asked us to. You just do you're very best too help those around you and share what you've learned with others. That's how we grow together! So truly being a Mormon is like being in a family. Show more Show less
