Hi I'm Renee

I was born in Georgia but grew up in Tennessee and have lived there the majority of my life. I am a Mormon.

About Me

As a child and growing up my passion was ballet dancing. I married at a young age and had three children. Later in life I went through a divorce after many years of abuse and was reunited with an old schoolmate at my 25 year class reunion. He introduced me to the church and the rest is history. We have been married 17 years and have 9 children between us and 17 grand children. I have never been happier in my life. We both have very strong testimonies of the church and our dream is to go on multiple missions together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was converted to the gospel by reading the Book of Mormon. As I read the passages I knew that what I was reading was true and could feel the spirit of the Lord within me. It was an enjoyable experience that I will never forget but amazing because my husband had the opportunity to witness my conversion. As a member of this church I have grown in every aspect of my life. I have confidence that I know I am a daughter of Heavenly Father and have a divine heritage. I know that as I follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost and have faith in the Lord my life will be micro managed in every aspect. I know that this gospel was restored and that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that my Savior lives and he atoned for all of our sins and felt all of our pain. As a member of this church I know where I came from, what my purpose is on this earth, and where I am going from here. It is my prayer that by reading my testimony you will have a desire to seek out the gospel for yourself and read, ponder, and pray to know that it is true.

How I live my faith

Being a member of this faith to me isn't just going to church on Sunday. It is a way of life. It is something that becomes a part of your every day makeup. I have had some amazing callings in the church. We are all called to do a job. It may be teaching the primary children, leading music, being a Temple worker or being the Bishop of a ward. I have learned that no matter the calling if you strive to do your best and magnify the calling you will become a better person and your life will be blessed. As a member you are assigned several families that you will visit each month and check on their well being. As a rule you will have a companion to help on these visits and in addition to teaching a brief lesson you will have the opportunity to get to know this family and share in their joys and help with any needs. The men in the church are assigned as "Home Teachers" and the women are assigned as "Visiting Teachers". To me, it is one of the most amazing programs in the church. Another amazing facet of the church is the opportunity to do missionary work. Every member is actually a missionary if they choose to share the gospel. Most wards have full time missionaries and working with them is a privilege. The Elders have to be 19 to go out on a mission and the Sisters have to be 21. For some of us "old timers" we can do Senior missions. I love sharing the gospel and doing work with the missionaries. My husband and I are looking forward to doing Senior missions in the near future.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Renee
Our bodies were created in the image of our Father in Heaven. As long as we strive to be the best we can be, we not only receive the blessings that our Father above has intened for each of us but we set an example for all those that are in need of guidance or may be skeptical. I have never had a desire to smoke, do drugs, or drink alcohol and I am very thankful that my parents set that example for me even though they were not Mormon. I know that some of my friends may see this as a restriction but I see this as a blessing in my life. I know that by obeying these simple principles I can avoid some of the obvious consequences from doing these things. But even more important is keeping our bodies clean so that we may have the spirit of the Lord with us at all times. Show more Show less
