Hi I'm Carson Powell

I grew up in Utah. I love everything about the mountains and being in the outdoors. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have an awesome family. I love the outdoors, and playing sports. Most of all, I love spending time with my kids and wife. Being a Mormon has helped me appreciate and be grateful for even the smallest blessings in my life. I know my Heavenly Father loves me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church. I have lived by it's standards my entire life. I have many friends who are not Mormon, or who have become inactive. I can see the difference in my everyday life, and that I am blessed in different ways that others aren't. But most importantly, I have received many answers to many prayers. I know Jesus lives, and that we have a living prophet today. His name is Thomas S Monson. I have heard him speak, read many of his talks, and felt the spirit testify to me, that he truly is called and guided by our Savior. At times I struggle in life in different ways, but I know that the atonement is real, and that I can be forgiven of my sins. I have been through the Temple, and made sacred covenants with my Heavenly Father there. I know that I can live with my family forever, and not just until we die. The Mormon church is the only church that has any answers regarding what happens after we die, and the Lord has testified to me through the Holy Spirit these things. My family brings me the most happiness in my life, and knowing that I can live with them after I die, gives me a much more optimistic outlook on life. I know that I am here on Earth to serve, to learn, to grow in making right and wrong decisions, and to be happy. Living by the standards of the Mormon church give me more freedom, and more happiness than I could ever find elsewhere. I love this church. I love the Book of Mormon, and know it to be true. I love knowing that I am sealed to my kids and my wife for time and all eternity. I love my wife! I know that our love, friendship, and bond does not end when this life is over. The only thing better than being married to my wife, is being sealed to her forever! :)

How I live my faith

I try to serve in a variety of different ways. I currently teach a Gospel Doctrine class in my ward. I have had this calling for almost three years, and I love it. I am so grateful for those who attend my class because of their comments and questions. I know that I have been called to this position to serve and try to helps others learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But I feel that it is the other way around, and that I have learned from the questions, answers, and testimonies of those in my class.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Carson Powell
I am grateful to know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If Jesus himself had need to be baptized by someone who had been ordained with the Priesthood, then I know it is important to have that same priesthood here on Earth today. Show more Show less
