Hi I'm Josh Franklin

I am from Nampa, Idaho. I love sports. And I'm a mormon!

About Me

I have a family of 7; me, my 2 parents, and 4 goofy younger brothers. I grew up in Illinois but I have lived in Idaho since I was 14. I love being outdoors and playing just about any sport that's out there. Baseball, soccer, basketball, football, even running! I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and playing piano in my spare time.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the church. I have no idea where I would be without it in my life. I've always been a member of the LDS church. I've always had a testimony that the church is true but I did struggle for a bit in my early teens. When I was 16 is when I really knew for a fact that everything I believed is true. I prayed in the peace and quiet of the mountains in Idaho to know whether it was true and had an overwhelming feeling of peace and joy come into my heart. It was so powerful that I started crying and couldn't continue my prayer. Since then I have known that everything is true! Joesph Smith was a prophet, the Book of Mormon is true, Jesus Christ lived and died for us so that we could live with Him again, and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet today.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to teach classes of young kids and also classes of adults. I read and study the scriptures and pray every day. Being a member of the Lord's church means that we can't just be a "sunday Christian". We need to live our religion every minute of everyday by serving those people around and helping others in whatever ways we are able.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Josh Franklin
Church services are so spiritual. Everyone is welcome and we love visitors, it even says so on the signs. We sing hymns, have prayers offered by members, partake of the sacrament, and listen to speakers also from the congregation. We have Sunday School for the youth (12-17), primary for the 3-11 year olds, and classes for the adults. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Josh Franklin
The things that go on in the temple are not secret but they are extremely sacred. That is why they are not discussed in any detail outside of the temple. Only baptised members who are qualified and worthy may attend the temple. Non-members can go to the temple grounds and also to temple open houses before they are dedicated. It is an amazing experience to go to an open house. The reason we go to the temple is to learn eternal truths and recieve ordinances. Such as marriage for eternity. We also provide those same ordinances (including baptism) to those who did not have the opportunity to recieve them while they were here on the earth. Show more Show less
