Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in California where I enjoyed the warm weather and being out on the boat. I love serving others. I am a Mormon

About Me

I came from a family that love to play any sport. Sports really brought our family together as it gave us the opportunity to teach and learn from one another. If I can be at the lake all day, then I would. Wake boarding and tubing were one of my favorite water activities. I love cleaning and feeling organized. When I find a job I like to work my hardest and meet the people I work with so that I enjoy what I do. When I serve others I feel my best. I am a sensitive person who wants to make others happy. I set goals that I feel will help me in life, but may not be ones I felt I could accomplish. Running has become my passion. Staying fit puts a smile on my face.

Why I am a Mormon

Being raised in an LDS family helped me to see that by my parents living the gospel principles it gave them direction and purpose. I always wanted to live my life with meaning and have a sense of belonging. My parents taught me to pray and follow the commandments of God. As I grew up I was shy and timid. When I was out of high school I felt I needed to search for my individual testimony and have experiences that would help me. I attended a singles ward of the LDS church where I met people that were my age. It was fun to be able to talk to them about what the gospel meant to them and how we had seen God's hand in our life. I was a girl who never wanted to miss out on fun and being out with my friends. I worked starting in high school for an OBGYN office and stayed there for over 7 years. I loved working and having money, but one day I felt a strong impression that I needed to serve a mission for the church. I wasn't as shy as I had been, but knew that talking to complete strangers on the street may be hard. I listened to the spirit of God and went on a mission which taught me many life lessons that will forever help me. The most important lessons I learned was to have faith in the Lord, be patient, and come to know the Lord's will for me and then live it. As I did that I was blessed. I have had trials in my life and the only way I get through them is through communication with my Heavenly Father and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Christ suffered for me so that I don't have to. As I do my part they will help me with the rest. I am a member of the Church and Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because we have the power of the priesthood that Christ had and through that priesthood power we can do ordinances that provide a way to live with God and our family as we do our part.

How I live my faith

I belong to a women's organization where we come together and serve one another. We get to know the other sisters and come to learn how we help lift their burdens. I have served a mission in Virginia where I was able to teach of Jesus Christ and his true Church and that brought me the greatest happiness. When I see brothers and sisters lives being changed for the better I know that I am doing part of God's work. Each day I pray, look, and do service it brings me that much closer to my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Just as we meet someone and ask them questions, listen to them and serve them we become more familiar of who they are and know more about them. I know that for me thats the process I have meeting new friends. I also invest time so that I can understand who they are and how they do things. The same is with our Heavenly Father. We can't know of him or who he is if we don't invest some time in asking questions, listening and serving him. As we do it by prayer, scripture reading and living his commandments we will come to understand his identity. Heavenly Father is patiently waiting for each of us to come to him and ask questions so that he can tell us. He wants us to know him just as much as he want us to know ourselves and what all we are made of. He has given us so many gifts and talents that as we strive to develop them we will begin to see that we are as our Heavenly is. God does talk to us. We need to put ourselves in a place where we won't be distracted and can listen intently to what he would have us to hear. Anything good is of God. He is our father and friend and as we show our desire he will provide a way. Show more Show less
