Hi I'm Heather

I'm a wife, mom of 3 and mother of many. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife to a fabulous husband that is not a member of the LDS Church. We married 2 years ago and I was blessed to be able to adopt his 3 children. We had both been married before and had troubled pasts. We both have similar goals and dreams for our family. I have "collected" as my mom calls it many other children over the past 15 years that I have been able to be a parent and support. I've recently been diagnosed with a neurological condition that effects my motor skills. I try not to let that keep me down, but sometimes it's more difficult than others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS Church and raised learning all the lessons, reading the Book of Mormon, going to Seminary, and attending Church on a regular basis. As young as 8, I didn't really know what I believed. I got baptized because my friends were. I went because that's what was done in my home and neighborhood. After I graduated high school and moved out into the world, I stopped. I stopped attending church, I stopped reading my scriptures, I stopped praying, I stopped talking to my family. I didn't know if I believed what I had been taught all of my life. I went to different churches. I studied those religions. None of them seemed to be complete to me. They were all missing something. I married a Southern Baptist and attended his church with him even though it just felt like it was empty. We later divorced and I decided to move home to help my aging grandparents. I was assigned a fabulous set of Visiting Teachers that would visit me every month, without fail. They would call me and invite me to church and church activities. Finally I gave in and I went to church with them and my mom. This time it felt right. I knew it beyond a doubt that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, was were I was supposed to be. The more I attended church, the more I realized that I'm not just a part of this church, this church is a part of me. I met a man 5 years ago. A single dad of 3, two girls and a boy. He wasn't a member of the LDS church, but when I met his children for the first time, I knew that they were meant to be mine. The look just like me. 2 years ago we married and I was blessed to adopt my children. They have since started attending church just because I am. They haven't quite made the decision to be baptized, however I'm not too worried about that. I have a wonderful family now.

How I live my faith

I'm a Cub Scout Den Leader and LOVE my scouts. I'm President of our Parent Teacher Organization at the elementary school. I'm learning to enjoy and love Visiting Teaching. Sometimes these things are hard for me because I don't know how my day will be when I wake up, but every night I pray that the things that need to be accomplished can and will be. The Lord answers my prayers.
