Hi I'm Rosie

I am a wife, mother of 3(2 type 1 diabetic children), pharmacist, Danish Genealogist, & type 1 diabetic of 44 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to travel, scrapbook, read, learn, play piano, & do family activities. I got type 1 diabetes at 2. My mother asked my doctor if he knew of a diabetic that was normal. He said "I knew 1 that was sort of normal." Technology was NOT advanced. Metal syringes were boiled to reuse which hurt. We tested urine to find out my control (NOT accurate). I ate very little sugar, went trick-or-treating for my dad, & only got to eat the apples. I remember eating 3 M&Ms once &feeling horrible because I didn't tell my mom. My childhood included seizures &passing out from low blood sugars, watching what I ate, &not feeling great. My mom & I got great comfort in several scriptures. John 9:1-3 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. IT WASN'T MY OR MY PARENT'S FAULT, IT JUST HAPPENED!1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. THE LORD WILL NOT GIVE ME MORE CHALLENGES THAN I CAN HANDLE! Blood glucose meters were used when I was in high school. I could eat more sugar, have more freedom, & feel better. see Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon faith. Throughout my life the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has just made sense. I have read beliefs of other religions, but they don't seem logical. I get piece of mind when I study Mormon doctrine. It is comforting that there is a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, just like Adam, Moses, Abraham, Enoch, Peter, & Paul. Why would God only give prophets to people that lived long ago? After much work, faith, & prayers, I completed pharmacy school. I got married to an amazing man. One day we got a horrible phone call. My 19 year old sister, Mary, in pharmacy school got leukemia. She underwent chemo, went into "remission,"returned to pharmacy school, &got married. 3 months after she was married, the cancer returned. After more chemo &2 bone marrow transplants, she died. As a family, we made a list of blessings of the adversity-1.Families are forever. We can live with her again if we live righteously. 2.We had wonderful family, friend,& church support. 3.She didn't get all the side effects of the chemo & bone marrow transplants. 4.My family grew closer than it had ever been. 5.She had lived the gospel teachings & was an example. (A lady at church had a daughter that was into lying, drugs, & immoral behavior. She came up to my mother at the funeral & said, "There are things that are much worse than death." Spiritual death is worse than physical death!) I have made a list of blessings from my diabetes. 1. I have educated patients at the pharmacy, my 2 children with diabetes(There are at least 15shots &18 blood sugar tests at our house every day),children &parents at diabetes camps, &a large group of people in Costa Rica. 2.I got to hear my daughter's prayer at age 6 that said,"Thank you for insulin & test strips." 3. I have been blessed through hard work & faith to be "normal" for 41 years with diabetes& no complications! Alma 40:11-12 (in Book of Mormon) talks of the resurrection.I’ll no longer have to be concerned with diabetes.Yeah!

How I live my faith

I teach an 8 year old Cub Scout Group once a week. I help my children's teachers at elementary school 2 hours per week & with the PTA Reflections Contest. In 2014, I wanted to learn how to do family history to give my ancestors the opportunity to get to live in the most beautiful place in heaven https://www.lds.org/church/temples/why-we-build-temples?lang=eng . I prayed about which line I needed to research (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, England, Scotland). I felt inspired to do Danish. I was shocked because my sister went on a mission to Denmark, and I didn't speak Danish! Since then, I have spent countless hours learning how to do it, been guided often, created a blog, taught classes, and found many ancestors. The Lord knew my abilities when I did not! I've heard from people that the LDS Church is restrictive. I think the Church is empowering. I've never drank alcohol or coffee, smoked, taken illegal drugs, searched out pornography, or had pre-marital sex. I've never known anyone who has not done these things regret it. I never worry about DUIs, being drunk, using time drinking coffee or smoking, being high, being addicted to pornography, getting a venereal disease or AIDS or an abortion, having an unwanted pregnancy, or worrying about a guy abandoning me after I had given him something so dear. My husband has the same values so these standards are not a big concern after marriage. We do have to work on our marriage relationship day by day. We made promises to each other in the Idaho Falls Temple so we can be a family together forever. After 16 years of marriage &3 kids, we can both say that our marriage is better now than it was 16 years ago! Being a Mormon is who I am; it affects every day of my life. I'm not perfect. I try to be a little bit better day by day. I love to serve & teach my family & people! The Gospel is true; I put my heart & soul into it!
