Hi I'm Jillian

I'm a daughter, a sister, a Canadian, a student, a teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm currently a university students studying to be an elementary school music teacher. I always knew that I wanted to work with children, and teaching just seemed to fit. I also get to use my love of music as I'm planning on teaching elementary school music. And I love it! Kids are so funny. Every day that I have to work with children there is a moment that reminds me why I wanted to teach (the cliché is true, you really do learn more from them than they learn from you)! I also love libraries! And reading! And I love ice cream and dresses and riding bikes. I've played piano since I was seven, and I also kinda/sorta play the guitar and the ukulele (talents that I hope to become much better at).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that Jesus Christ died for me, that He lives, and that he is constantly fighting for me. He understands me, and He has comforted me in my own trials and has helped me comfort and help others as I follow his example. I am a Mormon because being a Mormon makes me happy! I have found so much joy and peace in the teachings of the church. I have also met wonderful people and made eternal friendships. The teachings of the church help me to lead a life that is fulfilling and purposeful. I am a Mormon because families can be together forever. Through the blessings of the temple I will be with my family throughout eternity. This knowledge has helped me to love my family better and more. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It testifies of Jesus Christ, and reading it has brought me comfort and direction. I am a Mormon because Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. I have seen miracles in my life, and I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

As representative of the Young Single Adult Committee in my ward, I plan and carry out activities for the single adults aged 18-30 in my area. My work as a representative has been so great for me, I would never have chosen to be the representative but through the calling I have learned so much! Now I know how much pizza to order for 300 people, or who to contact to book a city park. I love that the church gives me so many opportunities to serve the people around me. I have a quotation here that rings true in my life. "As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christ-like love, something wonderful happens to us, our own spirits become healed, more refined, and stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit." - Dieter F Uchtdorf
