Hi I'm Scott

I like to have fun and get things done, and I'm a Mormon. I invite and welcome your questions.

About Me

I have been married for almost 30 years (as of this writing). My wife and I have four adult daughters. I enjoy audiobooks. I enjoy exercise. I enjoy the outdoors. I enjoy music. I play guitar, mandolin, piano, and harmonica. I have enjoyed being an adult Scouter, which included completing the Wood Badge training. I served a mission in the Argentina Buenos Aires South mission, so I also read, write, and speak Spanish fluently. I have an Accounting degree from Brigham Young University-Utah. I've spent my career in computer programming, and software/hardware installation and support. I have also tutored math for several years. I am currently embarking on a career change by going through teacher certification to teach high school math, so I am currently a full-time student.

Why I am a Mormon

I originally became a Mormon because I grew up in this Church. I have remained a Mormon because, as I have attended church, as I have learned more of its doctrine, as I have seen the good in this lifestyle, as I have read the Book of Mormon repeatedly over the last 20+ years, as I have questioned these teachings by living them, as I have seen the good that has come to other Church members who live by these teachings, I have become deeply convinced of its veracity. I am convinced that this is not just another religion, but that it is the very Church of Jesus Christ, the same Church He organized in His mortal lifetime. I believe this Church was restored to the earth in the early 1800s, under the direction of God and Christ, through a modern-day prophet, Joseph Smith Jr. I believe the Church today continues to thrive under the hand of Christ, as he directs the Church by revelation through a living prophet (Thomas S. Monson, as of this writing), in accordance with Amos 3:7. I believe this Church was not organized by merely a man or group of men, but that it exists under the direct authority of Jesus Christ. I believe anyone can come to know these things for themselves by receiving the missionaries in their home to teach them about the Church, by reading the Book of Mormon, by attending Church meetings, by getting to know Church members, and, through fervent and sincere prayer, asking God if this is all really true.

How I live my faith

These are some of the ways I live my faith: I question the principles and doctrines of my faith on a daily basis - by living them. I read the Book of Mormon every day. I attend church every Sunday. I attend the temple regularly. I currently serve as our Ward Clerk in the hispanic ward I attend. I listen to the church magazines in audio form while driving, exercising, and doing housework. I serve others in the community as I am available. I play/sing church music at home on the piano and guitar. I sing in church choirs as I am available. I keep myself informed about church doctrine and policies by listening to the audio versions of the Church-produced manuals. I attend Institute (an evening religion class for adults).
