Hi I'm Matt

I'm a college student. I love sports, singing, dancing, and my family/friends. I grew up on a farm in Indiana. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 21 year old college student. I have three brothers and one sister. I grew up on a farm my entire life and also worked at a hog farm for four years during high school. I love participating in and watching sports, especially tennis, wrestling, basketball, and football. During my high school years I involved myself in wrestling, tennis, archery, Spanish Club, Student Council, Honor Society, Academic Team, Band, Show Choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Drama Club. I served in many leadership positions of the Student Council, including President my senior year. Some major accomplishments and awards that I received in high school were Hardest Worker on the wrestling team, the Indiana National Archery in the Schools Program Male Archer Scholar, the Friendliest Guy in my senior class, and I was elected Homecoming King my senior year. I love spending time with my family and friends and love traveling to new places. After graduating in 2012, I attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana for a semester then served a spanish-speaking two year mission in the Utah Salt Lake City West Mission. I loved every moment of those two years that I dedicated to the Lord bringing joy into the lives of the people I met every day!! I learned so much about Our Savior and His Love for each one of us! I am currently continuing my college education at Ball State studying Natural Resources & Environmental Management. One of my many goals is to get married and have my own family soon!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, not only because I was raised into the church, but because I have a firm testimony and belief that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he restored this church on the Earth in these days so that we can have a way to return to live with out Father in heaven. I believe in the truth of the Book of Mormon and that by the power of God, Joseph Smith translated it from the gold plates of the prophets of old. I know that it is truly another testament of Jesus Christ that goes with the teachings of the Bible. I know that today, we have a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and that he leads the church with divine revelation and commandments from God. I know that Jesus Christ died for us on the cross and took upon himself all the sins of this world, so that we can repent and be forgiven of our own sins. I know that he was resurrected so that we too can be resurrected and return to live with God in the next life. I know that we are all sons and daughters of God and that he loves each and every one of us. I know that this is the only true church on Earth today and that only through our faith, repentance, baptism, and enduring to the end can we have eternal life with our Father in heaven. And, by the power of the Holy Ghost in our hearts, we can know the path that we need to travel. I know these things to be true and testify of them in the name of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by giving service to everyone around me, whether it be as simple as opening the door for someone, or helping someone clean up the damage after a storm. I say hi to people that I come in contact with on campus and around the community and try to keep a smile on my face and have a positive attitude as I go about my day. I love to make people laugh and hope that I am setting a good example to my peers around me. Being involved in community service and service within the church helps my faith grow and helps me grow as an individual. Every day I try to be more Christ-like and show my love for my brothers and sisters around me. As a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, my goal is to help bring others closer to Christ and know that God loves all of his children on this beautiful Earth. I want everyone around me to experience and enjoy the joy that I have recieved and continue to recieve from living my faith and standing up for what I know to be true!
