Hi I'm Emily

I live in Louisiana. I love music and poetry. I play the flute. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a sophomore in high school. I love spending time with my family. They are truly the best friends I could ever ask for. I have six sisters and one brother. I'm in the middle. I really love to read. Poetry is an obsession I've had ever since I was very young, and I love to write poems, though I don't find myself very good at it. I play the flute in band and I'm absolutely in love with it! I really love good, uplifting music because it always brightens my mood. I dream of one day living in France. Seminary is a class that I have started attending each day before school at church to study the scriptures, and I have really gained a true testimony of its great importance. I really love Sundays. Sunday is a day of the week when I can reflect on my accomplishments and set more goals. Going to church is something I really look forward to. It really is the best way to start off the week. I am so blessed. I love life! :)

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a place where I feel very close to my Father in Heaven. I am a member of the church because I choose to be. I know that this church is true, and I know that its principles and teachings bring great happiness. My dad is a convert to the church. The missionaries knocked on the door of his dorm while he was in college, and he felt prompted to listen to them. He served a mission and attended Brigham Young University, where he and my mother met. I know that without the gospel I would not be who I am today. I will stumble and perhaps fall at times, but I will always have Christ's hand reaching to help me get up. I love this church, and I know that Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. He loves each and every one of us. I am a Mormon because I know that the teachings are true and if we follow them we will feel joy and will one day live with God again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through doing simple things each day. Though it is difficult at times, I am sure to read my scriptures and say my prayers each night. It helps me prepare for the next day and pushes me to do my very best. I know that when I follow the counsels of the prophet and obey the commandments that God has given us, I am blessed. Doing good acts is a way to stay on the direct path to live with our Savior and Heavenly Father again. Life is filled with trials, but we can make it if we persevere and push forward with faith. At school I try to be a light for others. I engage in conversations that are uplifting and invite the Spirit. I love to serve others. Having only three members of the church in my high school, I feel that it is a great opportunity for me to share the happiness that this gospel brings me. Christ is my ultimate example and I strive to be like Him.
