Hi I'm Kati

I grew up in Lebanon Oregon. I am studying Horticulture at BYU-Idaho with an emphasis in landscape design, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a horticulture major emphasizing in landscape design. I love the art of creating! Some of my proudest moments include seeing my thoughts and ideas turn into a reality. I love what I do; it allows for that, and allows me to toy with nature and the blessing of these creations. I also enjoy sports-running, mostly-and cooking/baking (hence the reason I had to learn to like to run). I am the third of four kids; an older brother and sister, and one younger brother. I guess you could say I was the "wild child" while growing up. I caused the most arguments, the most stress and grief to my parents while I was a teenager. Luckily, I've grown up since then. Embracing the gospel will really change your outlook... I believe that life should be exhilarating; it should be lived to it's fullest-experiencing all of the good in this world that we can, and serving, teaching, and loving others. There is always time for a good joke, a friendly action, and delicious food. I am currently serving in the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh mission, in State College. I work with the students at Penn State. I never thought I would be the one to go on a mission- in fact, I rather disliked the idea at first, but God had a better idea for me. I have fallen in love with the service that I do. I have seen lives change. The best experience I have ever had is watching someone pray to God for the first time. It's like going home.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess it might seem that, for someone like me who has been raised in the church, I go simply because it appears that I have never known anything different. But even for me, I still had to be convinced that this was the true church of our Savior Jesus Christ. For a time, I only went to church because my parents desired it of me. I didn't listen, I didn't care, and I had no interest. Then one day it just kind of hit me. My life wasn't going the way that I wanted it to. After some intense prayer with the Lord, I realized that I needed to make changes in my life. I started going to church and actually listening and acting on what was said. As I changed, and relied on the Lord for my happiness, I became so. I grew and strengthened myself and learned to love this gospel. Now, after knowing what my life has been like with the gospel, and what it was like without it, I could never go back to what my life was like. I am a Mormon because of the peace and happiness that I feel. I am a Mormon because I know what I was missing, and I never want to lose that again. I know that this church is true. Only truth can merit such happiness. Because of this gospel, I know what I am working towards, and I know what I want. And I know that these things can only be attained through strict obedience to the will of the Lord, which is why I am a Mormon. I believe that no other thing can bring the same happiness, peace and understanding that I have gained by being a part of this church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting obediently, in accordance with what I have been taught. I strive every day to do what I should be. It's not very easy and yes, I mess it up all the time, but I have come to recognize the importance of trying. I pray to my Father in Heaven. I do my best to do what He would have me do, regardless of what I think I want or need-because He always knows better, and knows my life can be much happier than I could ever have imagined for myself.
