Hi I'm Preston

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, but have lived the majority of my life in California and Washington State. I am the oldest of six kids and love playing and spending time with my family. I enjoy anything and everything related to water including swimming, boating, and skiing. Outside of the water, I enjoy reaching new heights hiking and rock climbing. I am a student at BYU working hard to be accepted into medical school. I have recently returned from a four month study trip to Jerusalem where I studied the Bible. Now, I am serving a mission in Moldova.

Why I am a Mormon

Often times, my friends have asked me why I am always so happy. There is only one true response to this question. It is because of what I have learned at church, through prayer and reading the Book of Mormon. Although I was raised in the Church, I have gained my own witness that it is from God. I can't think of a specific time that confirmed this to me but when I look back I can see how much better my life is when I am trying hard to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. This knowledge is confirmed to me every time that I pray for help and feel the comfort and strength of Jesus Christ. I have had many family members and friends who suffer from and have passed away from cancer and other medical problems or accidents. At times it can be hard to cope with the overwhelming grief of their passing but when I pray, the grief is always replaced by peace. I know that because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ I can be with them again and I can be forgiven for my sins. The peace that comes after praying for forgiveness and knowing that you have been forgiven is indescribable. I know that God is my Heavenly Father and that Christ is His son and that they love me. I know that the Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God and President Thomas S. Monson is the prophet on the earth today just as Moses was in the days of the Bible. It is because of the joy which comes from the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I am able to press forward in trying times.

How I live my faith

Life can be full of trials, but I have found that with the help of Jesus Christ I can do all things. I like to start and end my day with a prayer and scripture as a way of letting Him into my life. I believe that He is always there waiting for us to let Him in. It is easier for me to focus on school and keep an optimistic attitude after I have let Him in. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life in countless ways and I do my best to share the blessings by serving the people around me. I have found that by just doing the simple things every day to follow Christ makes life so much better. I am currently, as a missionary, serving the people of Moldova. When serving the people around me it is easier to see God's love for them.
