Hi I'm Alexis Smith

I'm a dancer, a lover of books and a thrift store enthusiast. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Italian by blood and a dancer by choice. I am happiest when I am with family, dancing, reading, finding out what makes people who they are, writing, exploring thrift stores, watching really good movies, listening to music that makes me want to move, and laughing. My family is loud, stubborn, hilarious, and loyal to a fault. They are truly the people that God has given me to help me become who I am today. I am thoroughly enjoying a life rife with love, loss, peace, disappointment, mistakes, and change that help me focus on an eternal perspective. I couldn't be happier.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS religion. I grew up in a wonderful home, with parents who always told me to remember who I was, a child of God. There was a time in my life where I forgot that. A time where I thought that my path, one based on on temporal, fleeting, and in a sense pseudo-fulfillment would make me happy. I forgot that I have a perfect, merciful Father in Heaven who loves me, He cares for me, He is perfectly patient with me, and has an amazing plan not only for me but for all the rest of His children. And because of that knowledge I also know we are here for a reason. We came to earth to learn, to grown, to make mistakes and then learn and grow some more. We are here to serve our fellow men, to love each other despite our differences because we are all brothers and sisters, children of God. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives me hope, peace and comfort in a world lacking those elements. It means I'm never alone. It means I'm not just an insignificant human being, but a soul with a divine potential and purpose. It means I can spend eternity with the ones I love, with a Father in Heaven who loves me. That is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Sometimes words fail me, which is why I love to dance so immensely . It allows me to communicate my feelings without physically vocalizing them. I've had the magnificent opportunity to dance with an amazing group of women called "God's Messengers." These women, all dancers, came together and created a show based solely upon Christ, his attributes, and the lessons he taught us. We were able to share our testimonies of Jesus Christ through talents we were given. Hopefully we were able to touch the hearts of some, but I know I became more converted and gained a stronger conviction of the truthfulness of this gospel through my experience.
