Hi I'm Audrey

I'm the mother of four boys. I'm a wife. I went back to school so I could teach college math. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

All I ever wanted to do was be a mom. I never guessed it would be to four boys! I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for almost 20 years. Once they were all in school, I found myself craving new challenges so I went back to school myself. Now I have a master's degree in mathematics and I teach at our local college. I get to help students catch the vision of what an education can do for them and still pick my own kids up from school. I like to play the guitar and sing for fun and I like to walk for exercise. But I still love just being a mom.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a Mormon, but my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has grown and become my own. I am a very rational person. I have had spiritual experiences, but the bulk of my testimony has come from the simple logic of it. For example, doesn't it makes sense that God would grant today's people the blessing of a living prophet just like he did in Moses's day? The foundation of our church is based on the idea that God still speaks to us through living prophets. I have a testimony of that. I also have a testimony of the Word of Wisdom (the code of physical health that Mormon's live by). There are so many heartaches that are completely avoided by staying away from the substances prohibited by it: addiction, disease and the whole gamut of consequences of the things people do while impaired. It also makes perfect sense to me that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are separate beings with bodies of flesh and bone just like ours. The old testament tells us that we were created in God's image. Thinking of Heavenly Father that way helps me understand how much he cares about us, like earthly parents do but more perfectly. I believe with all my heart that we will long to be with our families in heaven just like we do on earth. This gospel teaches that eternal families are part of the Lord's plan. I have a testimony that this is the Lord's church. It was brought forth in this time to prepare the earth for the Lord's second coming. I believe that the Book of Mormon is scripture written by the Lord's ancient people just like the Bible. I believe that Joseph Smith was called by God as a prophet to bring about this great work and that we have a prophet on the earth today. I believe Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and that he would have done it for any one of us because he loves us that much. Because he did that, I believe we can repent of our wrongdoings and improve ourselves so that someday we can live with God and our families again.

How I live my faith

My favorite thing to do at church is to work with the youth. I love to see the potential and the possibilities in their eyes. Besides, we just like to have fun! I want them to realize that they have can live by high standards, the Lord's standards, and still have a great time. I want to give them a vision of how wonderful their lives can be if they make the hard choices that bring real, lasting happiness. I try to live my religion by example. My friends of other faiths know they can count on me to be honest and reliable. They know my standards and I believe they would be disappointed in me if I failed to live up to them.
