Hi I'm Kathy

I am married and a mother of three wonderful children.

About Me

I am a working mother who has three children, two of which are grown and out of the house. I spent a good part of my married life working outside the home as I helped my husband to obtain his graduate degree. I am a convert to the Church and have found the greatest peace and happiness when I have followed the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have had times when I have not been as active in the Church. At these times in my life, I was the least happy. I have suffered the loss of both my parents and a nephew (age 24) and know that I will be with them again someday. The gospel of Jesus Christ has concrete answers and offers peace during trials. I love learning and reading and feel that we should grow and learn as much as we can in this life! I love to garden, cook and to do family history.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have received a spiritual witness that THIS Church is Christ's true Church. I have found time and again that its teachings are pure, simple and true. While it is important to study and know intellectually about the Church, it is the Spirit who must testify to you of its truthfulness. This comes by sincere prayer and seeking. I am THE only member in my family (of parents, sisters and extended family) that is a Mormon and my beliefs have often been ridiculed or made fun of. But in the end I feel at peace knowing I have the truth. I love this gospel and feel privileged to have it in my life.

How I live my faith

In my faith, service is a huge component! I serve in the youth organization as president of the Young Women's group. In the past three years serving in this capacity, it has not always been easy. There have been times when I have been very tired, or not feeling up to the task but I have found that as I tried to put my best foot forward, I have been given strength and knowledge to do what was beyond my natural abilities! I have learned more, grown more and developed more by serving these sweet young women than I ever would have doing my own thing! I have grown to love these girls and have cherished watching them grow up. Personal fortification or strength is also very important to me. I know that one cannot give to another from an empty basket. And so I have tried very hard to "fill my basket" by reading from scriptures (daily) , praying (daily) and fasting at least once a month. All these things give me strength and a power to help others. I also feel that Heavenly Father gives guidance and inspiration to those who prepare themselves in this way. I do not have a husband who participates in my Church. This has been a huge challenge at times but when I have prioritized my activities and helped him to know that I love him he has respected me in my service.
