Hi I'm Dan Norton

I grew up in Northern California. I am a volunteer soccer coach and a sale professional. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married 21 years to a strong and beautiful woman and am the proud father of 4 great kids (2 boys, 2 girls). I like to learn about exercise and nutrition and like weightlifting, mountain biking, swimming & jogging. I really enjoy reading, am a movie buff, and like all kinds of music. I sing (1st tenor) and play the saxophone -- music is a big part of both my life and my family. I like reading (science fiction and older classics are my favorite). I graduated college with a degree in business, but ended up in sales and really like it -- I like solving problems and working with other people.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born and raised a Mormon, I came to realize around my 19th birthday that I needed to know if I really believed the teachings. I read the Book of Mormon along with the New Testament in the Bible and felt really good inside that the teachings I was learning were good. I prayed to my Heavenly Father to let me know if the things I was learning were true and to give me strength to live my life in harmony with those teachings. He answered my prayers -- not with any fancy visions or angelic visits, but with simply reassurances of peace and contentment in my head and heart. Now that I have lived for many more years past my 19th birthday, I have seen the positive benefits in my life of faithful gospel living. My marriage is strong and healthy, I still love my wife more than the day we were married! My kids are confident, disciplined, happy, and respectful to both my wife and me and also to others. They have a firm understanding of prayer and have read the scriptures regularly with our family and know them very well. My kids, my wife, and I... we have problems in life like everyone else: for us it has been financial struggles and most recently a LOT of health problems for my wife. But we remain strong as a family and firm in our testimony that God lives and loves us. We have a super strong foundation in our lives and I know it all comes from living the gospel teachings I have learned since my youth. I love my Church and my God. My life would be empty and meaningless without them. Whatever life may throw at me in the future, I am sure I will find strength and support from my testimony of these things. You should read the Book of Mormon -- it is a great book and will bless your life! You should consider learning about the Mormon faith -- it is more than a religion, it is the basis of a happy life. I am a Mormon and proud of it!

How I live my faith

I lead the men's adult ministry group within my local congregation. It is hard work because I work closely with the congregational leader (the bishop) in meeting the needs of the members of our congregation, but I love helping other people, lifing their spirits if they are down, and using my gifts and talents to serve them any way that I can. Outside of my church assignments, I like to volunteer with our local high school band (my daughter is a member) and have coached my other daughter's soccer team (even though we didn't win a lot of games, I think we had fun!). I like to sing with my church's choir, and I have also participated in community choir groups.
