Hi I'm Deanna

I grew up in Las Vegas and a small town with about 500 people. I'm a Ecologist, I love the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I rock climb, hike, backpack, dance, and snowboard. I've been sky diving and I love amusement parks. I love traveling, riding horses, reading in between my adventures, movies and my friends and family. I have a BS degree in Ecology and I'm currently applying to acquire a Master's degree. I have an adventurous side and I love to explore the world and the people in it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but like everyone does, I wondered if the gospel was true. My mom taught me from a young age that it was the true church of my Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ lives, but in my teenage years I began to ask soul searching questions, "Is it really true? Does God really exist and does he care about me? Could there be a prophet in modern times? Does God still care and talk to his children?" The answers didn't come easily for me. I prayed and prayed and searched the scriptures. Over time as I kept the commandments of the Lord and went to my church meetings, I began to feel that these things were true. These moments were so small and so gentle. Looking back I can see a life full of these feelings, all building as I got older to become a witness and a testimony to my heart that the gospel it true. I can now say without a doubt that this is the true church of Jesus Christ restored to the earth through a prophet called of God. God's works are not dead, he hears and answers my prayers. The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ is scripture. God loves me and he helps me through my trials. He loved me so much that he gave his Son to die for me so that I can return to Him. He loves me so much that he put a prophet on this earth to teach me and to lead me back to Him. I'm so thankful for the truths that I have found! I'm so thankful for Christ's sacrifice.

How I live my faith

I'm a member of a young single adult ward. We gather as young people in our church and community to strengthen one another. We are all in similar circumstances, facing similar challenges and decisions. Who to date? Who to marry? Where to go to school? What to study? We learn from each other and build lasting friendships. Plus we have a lot of fun on the side!! I help in the ward by teaching the all women's class in the ward on Sunday. It's a class where women can meet together and lift and strengthen one another spiritually, physically, and emotionally. I'm also a member of the Institute Council. Institute is a class where we can meet and talk about the scriptures. We also have fun activities, like dances, volleyball, BBQ's, service projects, firesides, etc. As a member of the council we plan activities and help the teachers with anything they need. We also help everyone in the class know what activities are going on and we invite anyone not coming to come and participate with us.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Deanna
Temples aren't secret, they are sacred. We desire that everyone lives so they can enter the temple. Everyone is allowed to go to open houses before the temple is dedicated. Once it has been dedicated to the Lord however, it becomes His house and to enter it you must be living certain standards set forth in the scriptures. Show more Show less
