Hi I'm Jarom

I grew up in Colorado. I love to play and teach the violin. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I build custom homes out of concrete and styrofoam (or ICF's- insulated concrete forms), and I unicycle! I have 14 siblings. In 2007, my younger sister passed away because of a terminal brain-stem tumor. She was 12 years old. I'm so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ that teaches me that someday, I'll be able to be with her again if I'm worthy, because of the sealing power given to Elijah the prophet of the Old Testament. I love athletics, playing word puzzle games like Boggle, and logic puzzles like MindTrap. I play the violin, piano, clarinet, guitar, trumpet, mandolin, and penny whistle (I also like to play the jaw harp).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel a peace and assurance that what I'm doing is right. The Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me to become a better person, which makes other people, as well as me, much happier. I'm a Mormon because I learn things about God that make me want to follow Him and His Son; knowing that He loves me, and that I have a purpose on Earth more than just to be born and die; I am here so that I can be with God again, better than I was before. I am a Mormon because the Church gives me the strength I need to make it through the hard times in life. I don't know what I'd do without the Gospel to let me know that trials aren't forever, that everything has a season, and hard times are not like permafrost, always staying, but rather like the beautiful climate of Colorado, coming and going, with peace and beauty before, during, and after those hard times. I am a Mormon because Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want me to be. I can feel it when I pray, when I read the scriptures, and when I'm out in my daily life. And the thing is, they don't just want for me to live the Gospel-- they want all of us to be happy, by living the true and everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know this Church-- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-- is the true church of Jesus Christ, that He established it through Joseph Smith, and that He continues to lead this Church through His living prophets, Thomas S. Monson and his counselors, and the Counsel of the Twelve Apostles. The Church means everything to me, because it makes me happy.

How I live my faith

In the Church, I have several callings, or responsibilities. I am in the leadership for Sunday School-- when a teacher isn't able to make it to church to teach their class, I help and teach it; also I strive to make sure that everything is running smoothly for the students and teachers. I also am teacher of a men's class, every 2nd and 3rd week of the month, I am responsible for teaching the lesson. Every now and then, I play the violin with the young children when they have a musical program during our Sacrament Meetings. I am also a home teacher; I go to certain members' homes and share a message with them from the First Presidency (the living prophet and his counselors), making sure that things in the home are running smoothly. If there are projects they need help with, I am always available to help, and find others to help them in what they may need.
