Hi I'm Wendy

I grew up in Oregon and have lived all around the United States. I am a full-time mom and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 7. We are a blended family, but what a rich blend! With our kids ranging from teenage girls to a kindergartener we seem to be daily dealing with teenage drama and hearing about the cutest boys to teaching basic manners and not to hit when we are angry. It is a lot of work, but I wouldn't trade it for any paid job. Their is no sweeter love than that of a child. That times seven makes it all worth it. I love to run and read and bake. It's the baking that makes the running so important. I love Oregon. I was born here and left to attend school and have lived from California to South Carolina. It took me almost 20 years to come home. It is beautiful and green and yes, kind of wet.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness it brings to me and my family. My parents were active members of the church and taught me the teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ when I was young. In High School I studied in Scotland for a summer. This was the first time I was on my own. I decided for myself that the happiness and peace that come from followning the teachings of Jesus Christ is the path I want to follow. I went to Brigham Young University and loved being surrounded by people that believed and lived like me. As I have travelled and moved around the country it is so reassuring to know that no matter where I go, I can find a congregation of members of the Church of Jesus Christ. At each church they teach the same lessons, they listen to the same prophet, we worship the same Jesus Christ. We just moved and have once again been amazed at the welcome and fellowship we feel in our new congregation. I am a Mormon because I believe that Joseph Smith saw in vision our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I believe they told him not to join any other church currently on the earth. I believe Joseph Smith restored the true gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I believe we are led by a living prophet on the earth today. I am a Mormon because Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, leads this chuch through that prophet. I am a Mormon because knowing what I know, and living the best I can brings me daily blessings and happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily trying to life the best life I can. With seven children watching I am extra cautious of how I behave and the example they see. We pray daily as a family and read from the scriptures. It brings us together in a few peaceful bonding moments each day. I also work with the teenage girls at church. I get to teach every other week and I get to attend activity night with them each week. I loved high school and all the oppurtunities just on the horizon. It is exciting and rewarding watching these amazing girls grow and learn. It is a friendship I have learned to treasure. I am also a visiting teacher. Another woman in our congregation and I are given the opportunity to visit and get to know and help other women specifically assigned to us. Since I left home for the first time over twenty years ago I have been given this opportunities. When I was first married my visiting teachers threw me a bridal shower, when I moved into my first home my visiting teachers scrubbed my oven and cleaned my bathrooms, when my children were born other visiting teachers brought meals. Most importantly it allows me the opportunity to build a friendship with women I might not have the chance to meet. I have had the opportunity to open mail for a blind sister and take her shopping. I have made many meals when new babies came. I have got to watch children so Mom could take care of other things. I have got to listen to a lifetime of stories from women with many years of experience. Women of different circumstances and different backgrounds. I have treasured these friends and treasure the opportunity to make new friends.
