Hi I'm Nathan Wainwright

I am 20 years old, have 3 great sisters and two awesome parents, and I love having a testimony of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am somewhere between high school and college right now, and trying to decide what comes after that. Probably the two most important things to me are my beliefs and my family. I think making what you believe your first priority in your life will really help everything else fall into place. My family also makes the top two because I have come to realize that in an eternal perspective, they will be in the picture forever. God has placed them in my life because He knows there are things I need to learn from them and teach them and He knows the happiness and joy they cause me.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I was probably just a Mormon because my family was, it was the beliefs I had been raised with. It also helped that with a lot of members of the church living near me, I could go to church and make friends that have lasted me my whole life (so far). After I grew up and developed opinions of my own, I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Soon after, every verse I read just applied to my life so much and the truthfulness of the book hit me hard and I knew that I was a part of the true church. I continue to feel that as often as I search for those feelings. I continue to be a Mormon because I continually keep learning more about the blessings that are available to those who make sacrifices to draw nearer to God.

How I live my faith

I have always attended church regularly, but I haven't come to love it like I do now until the last few years. It has been within that time that I have prayed and found out for myself that this is the true Church and the Book of Mormon testifies of Christ and brings us closer to him. I really grew a lot in the last few years as I was able to go to the temple every week with a few awesome friends that had the same commitment I do. Because of all of the blessings that I have, I feel obligated to go out and spread the gospel to as many people as will listen to me. There is nothing like feeling the satisfaction of someone who listens to us and feels the same way about the church as I do.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Nathan Wainwright
Joseph Smith was a prophet, he had the same calling as Moses, Abraham, Noah, etc. What makes him more associated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his experience as a 14 year old boy. At that age he had many questions about the salvation of his soul. There were so many churches telling him that salvation could only come from their church, and he wanted to know who was right. He came across the scripture in James that said, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." He did that. He knelt and prayed to ask God what he needed to do to gain salvation. His prayer was answered as God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him. They told him that Church that Christ had set up on the earth had been corrupted and no longer existed. They told him he had been chosen as the prophet who would restore it to the earth, which he did. So as the prophet of the restoration of the Church, he did not create the Mormon church, but restored that which had been lost. Show more Show less
