Hi I'm Desiree

Smiling is my favorite and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in sunny Southern California. I'm a wife, mom, business owner and teacher. I love crafting and interior design, and basically anything I do with my kids!! I laugh and cry easily and I especially love when I'm doing both at the same time. I am almost always singing, whether out loud or in my heart. Some days, if my kids are really lucky, I will rap for them while I'm working around the house. I love dancing in the kitchen with my husband. I love the ocean. I love sleeping but I really wish I were better at it. I am a list maker. I believe a productive day is a happy day! I'm not extraordinary at anything. I may be above average at a couple of things, but mainly I am just learning along the way, trying hard to be the best version of me that I can be....sometimes falling on my face, but trying hard to make those falls look as graceful as possible. I am happy. I am loved. I am blessed.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a loving Mormon family and I was blessed to have been taught simple but powerful truths from the time I was old enough to understand. As a young person, I already knew that God has a plan for me. I knew who I was.. a child of God. I was taught why I was born to earth, and where I am going after this life. All of these truths resonated with me and provided a safe and loving context for my life. But, as all of us who are truly converted, I reached a point when I had to really ask for myself. I had a burning desire to have my own personal conviction that all these things were true. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed earnestly. I poured out my desire to my Heavenly Father and He answered my prayers in an undeniable way. I knew that He knew me personally and was aware of my desires. He answered then. He answers now. Every good thing in my life is because of Him, and because of the atonement of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I feel the warmth of His love in the sunshine, and He is my strength through the storms. I am His child. I am His divine creation. I am His servant. I am blessed to be a member of His true church. I am a joyful Mormon.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ makes me so happy and one of my favorite things to do is talk about it! I teach an early morning scripture study class for high school students called seminary. As we study the word of God, we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives every morning before their school day begins. As we share the feeling of the spirit and testify of truth, all of us are strengthened, renewed and motivated to live one more day being valiant, strong, and charitable. We commit together to make wise choices and find opportunities daily to serve others. I think living my faith means to try and be more like Jesus. He was the best example of serving others and He did it continually. I try hard to find opportunities to help others every day. I make a secret little game for myself of making sure I find at least three people a day (other than my immediate family) that I can do something kind for.
