Hi I'm Tara

I grew up in northern Alberta, Canada. I'm a homeschooling mother of 2. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a wife and mother of 2 children. I love that we are a homeschooling family and get to spend so much time learning and sharing together, but I also love that I have the opportunity to take precious moments for myself. I feel strongly that I can be a better wife, mother and teacher if I take time to refuel myself physically, emotionally and spiritually. I love art and design and I find a great deal of enjoyment in expressing myself creatively. I draw, paint, sew and crochet. I love that I can find peace and joy through the creative process and then I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor along with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into the church when I was 8 years old. My mom came from a long heritage of members, but my dad was converted to the gospel just in time to be able to baptize me. Both of their examples helped me in my decision to be baptized. Even at such a young age I felt the strength of my mother's gospel lineage and I knew of many of the sacrifices that they had made for the church. On the other hand I saw the changes my dad was willing to make and had made in his life to also be a member. I just felt that this was the right thing to do even if I didn't yet understand everything. I truly had the faith of a child that all I had to was start on the path and I would learn and grow along the way. I know that my Savior loves me. I know that he loves each and every one of us. He has not left us or forgotten us. He has given us prophets to lead and guide us just as he did in the times of the Bible. These great men can lead us through the challenges of our day. We have also been given the words of past prophets through the scriptures. I know that the Bible is the word of God, but I also know that we have been given other scriptures, the Book of Mormon. Another Testament of Jesus Christ that works to complement and clarify the teachings of the Bible. I have felt the quiet peace that tells me that what I am doing as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the right way to be living. That peace leads me and my family each day and it is one of my greatest blessings.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live as my Savior Jesus Christ has exemplified. I have a desire to serve and teach by example as he did so long ago. I feel this a responsibility and a blessing. It has been said that when you know better, you do better. Through the teachings of the gospel I feel that I have learned a better way and so in turn, I must do better. Through being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we are given many opportunities to serve. As I fulfill my church assignments I feel the closeness of my Savior, I feel his strength lifting me and guiding me. I am blessed to have the energy and time to accomplish the things that are most important. The rest, those lesser "things" of life then find their proper importance and place in my life or they fall out all together. My life becomes clear and more focused. I feel peace knowing that I am spending my time and effort on the things that matter most, namely my relationship with my Savior, my family and friends.
