Hi I'm Caleb Gentry

I'm a musician. I love fitness. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'd say my life has been different than a lot of people my age. Looking back at my graduating class from high school, I think I was the first person to really leave my hometown. When I graduated, I left home to go on a mission for this church. A mission is when someone leaves home for 18 months to 2 years to go teach people about the church and help them live happier lives. I was sent to serve the people of Canada. I never imagined leaving the country, much less Texas. But I knew that it was the right thing to do and I was able to help so many people there for two years of my life. Currently, I am a music education major at Brigham Young University in Idaho. I love music. Music has set a lifestyle for me all my life. When I was in junior high school I set a goal to make it to the state level in music competitions when I got to high school. I wanted to be the best I could be and work hard to build my love for music. It was a long journey, but I ended high school being a 4 year all-state musician. I could not have done it without hard work and the Lord consecrating my efforts and hours of practice. I also love fitness and being healthy. I used to be really out of shape and overweight for years and now I'm healthier than ever. Again, only because of hard work and discipline. Look, you can do anything. Those goals of mine seemed so impossible for the longest time, but you have to believe in yourself and ask the Lord for help. Do all you can and he will help.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have found no greater lifestyle than that of living faithfully to the teaching of Jesus Christ. I know as you let him direct your life, you will find greater peace and understanding of why we are here and how you can build your family to last for an eternity. You can't find this anywhere else. You can only find pieces of this elsewhere.

How I live my faith

Every day I pray. When we pray we communicate with God. It is literal communication and I have seen the answers come as I am faithful to the commandments God gives us. There are commandments for our protection and they are also there for us to show our loyalty to God, even when we may not fully understand them.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

Caleb Gentry
As a youth in the church, I can say we are very active in the community. During the tragic hurricanes that swept through the southern states, we put everything down to help those in need. Even though the house I live in now was cut in half by a fallen tree in our front yard, I still stopped and helped others instead. I knew there were others with worse problems than mine. I can promise that we will always be there to help others. Show more Show less
