Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a small-town guy. I like sports and being outdoors. I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Throughout my life I've always enjoyed "living in the sticks". My family moved to Alaska shortly after I was born, where we lived in a couple different locations totaling almost 12 years. After that, we moved to a small reservation town in north-western New Mexico. I'm a typical small-town guy who loves doing the small-town things-sports and being outdoors especially. I love football (playing, watching, whatever) and I love hiking and hunting and just enjoying God's creations. I'm currently in my 2nd year of college following my 2 year mission (where I served in Riverside, CA from July 2010- July 2012) and am trying to "find myself" and get my life started.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon simply because I've come to know for myself that the Lord's church has been restored to the earth in these latter days. I've seen the results of the falling away that occurred in the century after his death, and I've met people who are searching for the truth, find it, and become much happier people. I was born in an LDS home and raised in it's teachings, and I don't think I ever really doubted anything I was taught. However, in the few years before I left for my mission, I needed to know for myself that what I already knew and believed was true. As I studied the scriptures and maintained contact with Heavenly Father through prayer, I came to know, bit by bit, that this church is the church of Jesus Christ. I came to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is true. I love that book. It has given me a stronger faith in Jesus Christ and has been the anchor for my testimony in Him and in His restored gospel. I'm a Mormon because I know that a living prophet guides the church today. I know that he is the instrument by which Jesus Christ guides His church, and I know that he will always guide us to Christ. I'm a Mormon because I gave it a chance, planted the seed, and saw the fruit come. As I've tasted the fruit of living the Gospel of Christ, I've been happy. And that's enough for me.

How I live my faith

As I sometimes struggle with the normal life of a college student (such as with finances, social life, homework, the typical balancing act) I try to grow closer every day to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And more than that, I try to do what I can to help others as well. I've seen firsthand the joy that comes in losing yourself in service to others and I try to apply that, whether it be simple daily acts of service, fulfilling church responsibilities, or more organized service projects. As hectic as my life gets at times, I do my best to never let that get in the way and always be looking for an opportunity to help someone else.
