Hi I'm Greg Buttars

I am the Manager of International Humanitarian Shipping for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

Music has always played a great role in my life. I attended Brigham Young University and had opportunities to travel with various performing groups. I served a mission to London England. I worked for many years in the recording industry. I have learned to love people and have a great respect for the unique, individual journey. In my current profession I interact with people all over the world who are working hard to care for those who are less fortunate. I am amazed by the generosity displayed by these people who contribute so much in so many different ways. Yes, our world has incredible challenges, but there are good people making a real difference all over the globe.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints however, my opportunities to attend church were limited. We lived quite a distance from the nearest LDS church. We were fairly poor at the time and finding gas money to travel to church was a challenge. There was a man in our neighborhood who was bed ridden. He was father to 3 boys I used to play with. I often spoke with him about religion and as a result came away from our discussions with many questions. This began a lifelong quest to really come to know our Savior, Jesus Christ. I studied and I prayed and I have come to know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ. I know that through Joseph Smith, the Lord restored his gospel to the earth. I know that God is our heavenly father. He loves us. He sent his son, Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so that we may return return to live with him with our families.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed in so many ways in my life that I feel a real responsibility to give back. I have a great job which allows me to participate in efforts to better the lives of people though out the world. At home I do my best to teach my children to love and respect people. I am active in my local church. I love to be with my family! It doesn't matter what we are doing. We just have so much fun together. Each Sunday after church we have a family dinner with our extended family members who live near by. We take turns making dinner and hosting these family gatherings. We pray together as a family and I love to hear the prayers of my young children.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Greg Buttars
One of the great manifestations of our Heavenly Fathers love is that He will hear and answer our prayers. Although much can be gained through study of gospel principles, we will still struggle to understand our Heavenly Father if we rely solely on our own intellect. As Jesus was preparing to leave the earth he told his followers that he would not leave them comfortless. He explained to them that the Holy Ghost would help us to remember and understand his teachings. The Holy Ghost will help us to know the truthfulness of God's teaching. He will make difficult doctrines easier to understand and lead us to truly know God as our loving Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
