Hi I'm Dan

I'm a programmer and a gamer and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife and three sweet kids. I wouldn't call myself a people person, but my family and the Church help a lot with that to keep me out of my shell. I've worked at some big programming companies, but I'm now happiest in a relatively small company where I can feel like my contributions truly make difference.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of the Church all my life and things started out well and good, but I later reached points in my life where giving up seemed like the easy thing to do. I wanted to turn away from the Church. I wanted to live somewhere where I could be away from everyone else. I wanted to be away from sorrow and disappointment. I wanted to cease to exist. But what I knew in the Gospel constantly reassured me that my short-term emotional wants, were not going to satisfy my long-term spiritual needs or even any short-term wants. So I kept pressing on and pressing on. Are things better? Definitely. Is life easy now? No, but it never will be. The trick isn't to find or create an easy life. The trick is surrounding yourself with people who will help you though the difficult times. The trick is having a relationship with God, so he can be there when you need Him.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being a good example to my kids. I am not perfect. Not even close. But I try my best to show them the correct path. I try to instill in them that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them and wants them to be happy. While I admit I have a shortcoming of not being proactive to set up times to visit with families I'm assigned, I always try to make myself available when others need me to come along or help out, like helping families move in and out of the ward.
