Hi I'm Meka

I'm the fourth of eleven children and love the beauty of life! I'm a musician, athlete, and statistician. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

As I stated before, I am the fourth of eleven children. Growing up in a large family was chaotic, but full of joy and excitement. A couple of years ago, I moved out and started college. I'm nearing the end of my bachelors degree in statistics! Right now, I'm in the wonderful country of China teaching to middle school students for my semester abroad. My experiences so far have been exhilarating and life changing. As far as hobbies go, I'd have to say they fall under three categories; music, sports, and family. I LOVE music! Music is my life and passion! It speaks to me. I love listening to all kinds of music and my favorite artist is Ingrid Michaelson. I'm also a musician and compose with my sisters. I sing and play the piano, guitar, ukulele, and flute. With the help of our Dad (he's our manager), my sisters and I record and produce our music with several talented individuals in the music industry. One of my other passions is sports. I'm a hardcore NBA Utah Jazz fan and love to play basketball myself. I played point guard and shooting guard in high school. I also played goalie for my high school soccer team and ran in track and field. My ultimate hobby is spending time with my family. They are the most important people to me in this world. They are my best friends and I love them so much. I feel so lucky to be blessed with such awesome parents and siblings who I'll get to be with for forever. My parents are my heroes and I hope that I can be like them someday.

Why I am a Mormon

The core reason that I'm a Mormon is because the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gives me such joy and purpose in this life and in the life to come. It answers the questions of "Who am I?", "Why am I here?", and "Where am I going?" The gospel also gives me hope and comfort. Knowing that I'll be with my family forever is such a comfort. And having a knowledge of God's great Plan of Salvation is comforting too.

How I live my faith

I often ask myself "Are you living up to par?" Do my decisions I make on a daily basis lead me towards eternal progression? Do my actions reflect that of a disciple of Christ? I want to reach my potential which means being the best person I can be. Living my faith isn't just a 'once a week' thing where I go to church. Its a daily effort to do the small and simple things (scripture study, prayer, small acts of service, etc...). For it is by those small and simple things that great things are brought to pass. We are all literally spirit children of our Father in Heaven and thus have that divine potential to do great things. It is by consecrating my life to do the Father's will everyday that I strive to live my faith. God has given us all that we need to return to him. If we do our best to keep his commandments, repent, and come unto him, he will do the rest.
