Hi I'm Emily Dutton

I love the Lord, and I am looking forward to figuring out what He has in store for me in life! I am a Mormon :)

About Me

Hello, my name is Emily! I am from Southeastern Idaho and the youngest of 4 children by almost 12 years. I am an English Education major; however, I am taking a break from school to serve a mission for 18 months. I have been called to a mission in the Philippines, and I will be serving February 2015 to August 2016. Music is my life. I play many different instruments; piano being my favorite. I love singing, listening to a lot of different kinds/cultures of music, and watching musicals. I also love learning about different cultures, traveling, camping, and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and raised in the church, I would not say I was fully converted until I entered college and had to make the decision about whether or not I would continue going. I continued going to church for a bit, but found myself struggling with my testimony. For a while, I stopped going to church, and I found myself very lost and confused. On one particularly bad day, I found myself praying to Heavenly Father for the first time in quite a while. I felt so much love and peace which was a feeling that had been missing ever since I stopped going to church. Since then, I've recognized how much my Heavenly Father loves me and how much positive guidance the church gives my life! Now I'm serving a mission to share the message of how much Christ and God love EVERY SINGLE PERSON!

How I live my faith

Right now, I am a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I am loving every second of it! One of the ways I live my faith is through striving to be a friend and helping hand to everyone I see regardless of their religion, ethnicity, physical/mental ability, sexuality, age, socioeconomic status, and the many other factors that seem to divide people these days! I love hearing people's amazing life stories and marveling at the differences/commonalities among everyone. I have been blessed in my life to have friends and family members from all walks of life, and I couldn't be more grateful for them! Another way I live my faith is through family history work! History is one of my favorite things in the world. As a result, I love to learn about family history and to help others discover their family histories. I find that missionary work is often focused on the living, but I find it important to also learn about our pasts!
