Hi I'm Maria

I love to learn, anything and everything, and I love to share that joy with others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother and a perpetual student. I love learning and adventure. My interests vary from permaculture to creating educational games, math to music, writing novels to reading great literature. I enjoy scuba diving, rappelling, hiking and bouldering. I worked in St. Petersburg, Russia for half a year. My passions are raising happy valiant children, a continual courtship with my husband, and following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. In these three areas I find my greatest learning and greatest adventure.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this faith. First through the examples of others, and then through my own study and practicing of faith I've come to know for myself that I have a Heavenly Father who knows me and loves me. I know that Jesus Christ lived, suffered, died and was resurrected for me and each of us so we can return to the presence of our Heavenly Father and eventually become like Him. I've felt the confirmation of these truths many times through my life; in times of trial and times of blessings. I love my Savior. I'm so grateful for the His restored gospel that helps me come to know Him better and allows me to follow Him more completely. I know that God loves us enough to send us continuing revelation (for this is a world of confusion). I follow a living prophet. I am a Mormon because I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has the gospel in its fullness. By living by this restored knowledge I can achieve the greatest joy possible in this life and in the eternities. It is a joy I desire to share.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as I, side by side with my husband, raise our children in the gospel. Family scripture reading, service, gospel discussions while working together are daily parts of our family. We build our family as we play, work and learn together. I fill my life with service and it refines me. I serve my family, friends, and neighbors. I visit those who are sick or lonely (and gain amazing friendships). I help with clothing drives and making quilts for the homeless. I help with the cub scouts. I can't do all things, but I can do something. I find joy in each day as Heavenly Father helps me know who and how to serve. Each day I strengthen my faith as I pray, study the scriptures, play hymns on the piano, and teach my children gospel truths. I need the daily renewal, as well as weekly renewal with the sacrament, gathering with my neighbors at church, and family home evening.
