Hi I'm Madelyn

Born and raised in California. I enjoy sports, dancing, and adventures. Junior in college, hoping to be a dental hygienist.

About Me

I love my family. I love to spend time with them. All of my siblings are my best friends. I love to try new things, however I also have my all time favorite things to do which include: dancing, singing, playing volleyball, and making funny scenarios or videos. I am studying exercise and wellness, and hoping to graduate from BYU in that, and then continue my education at a dental hygiene college.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the teachings of this church can help to bring peace and joy to each person's life. I know the power of revelation and inspiration is true and real and I know that our prophet speaks for our Father in Heaven. I know that Joseph Smith restored the true church. I know that families are eternal. I know that each person is loved and cared about by our Father in Heaven. The next part I will put in all caps because it is MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY - FOUNDATION. When I was about 15 years old I felt that everyone was telling me to receive a testimony of The Book of Mormon. I started to read The Book of Mormon, and I would pray to understand what I was going to read before I read, and then I prayed to remember what I read after the fact. I would also pray to know if it was true. After doing this for a year I still hadn't received an answer. However, I didn't feel like I had given it my all, so I started over, again reading and praying each time. I had been reading and praying for about 6 months when I went to EFY, which is essentially a Christian camp that helps you to find better ways to study the scriptures, and strengthen your faith. After that camp, I was traveling home with my family, and I was reading my scriptures before going to sleep. By this point I was a bit frustrated that I hadn't received any kind of confirmation from my continued determination. Right before I said my ending prayer I remembered something about pondering, or thinking deeply about your prayer upon finishing it. In my prayer I truly pleaded and begged God to know the truth, and I told Him that if it wasn't right I would continue searching. After my prayer, I thought of all the things I knew about the gospel. As I did this, I felt an overwhelmingly strong peaceful feeling, and from then on I knew that this gospel is true and that I would stand up for whatever I needed to in order to follow.

How I live my faith

As a member of a YSA ward in Provo, UT my calling changes around a lot. Because I play piano they tend to call me as a pianist some of the time, however I have also served as an activities committee member, and a teacher. I try to participate as often as I can to help those teaching the lesson or planning an event. Reading the scriptures and praying daily is one of the things that mainly helps me to feel like I am living my faith. It reminds me of the things that Heavenly Father does for me, and also helps me to keep an eternal perspective in my life.
